Why is Nanjing Wulongtan called Little West Lake? Is it part of the Grand View Garden of "Dream of the Red Chamber"?

The Red Chamber Exhibition Hall

A few days ago, at dusk, with a light rain, I went to Wulongtan again.

Wulongtan is not known when it was formed, but it is already famous during the Three Kingdoms period, named Qingshui Pond and Furong Pond.

According to jin dynasty legend, on June 19 of a certain year, four oolongs played around the spring. Since then, every year Oolong appears on time, and Oolong Lake got its name.

And I think that the name of Oolongtan seems to be more appropriate because of its shape, because the lake is slender, like a dragon.

Wulongtan also has the reputation of "Little West Lake", which comes from a good story.

When Tao Shu, a famous minister of the Qing Dynasty, was serving as the governor of Liangjiang, he often played here with his staff, the Hunan compatriot and thinker Wei Yuan, and issued the praise of "why west lake with such a beautiful view".

In the seventh year of the Qing Dynasty, Liu Kunyi, a Hunan native who was then the governor of Liangjiang, often went to the Area of Wulongtan with his subordinates to play, and also built a "Wanzai Pavilion" in the pond, and inscribed the four words "Why West Lake" on the pavilion, so Wulongtan was also called "Little West Lake".

Tan Yuanchun, a great writer of the Ming Dynasty, once had an article called "Three Tours to Wulongtan", and I was five tours.

Yan LuGong Ancestral Hall

Nanjing's people are brilliant and beautiful, and if you look at it beautifully, there is nothing special about this place. The reason why I often come here can be summarized as three.

First, there are relics about Yan Zhenqing here, namely the Fangsheng Nunnery and the Yanlu Ancestral Hall.

Yan Zhenqing, the great calligrapher, also left a good verse that "black hair does not know how to study early, and the white head regrets reading".

Who knows, this wenchen actually accompanied the sword and light sword shadow for a lifetime, and he finally died at the hands of li Xilie, a traitorous minister of the Tang Dynasty. And his upright character is exactly what I admire most.

Second, the celebrities gather here, and walking through it can always make people think.

For example, Fang Bao, the founder of the Tongcheng School, once built a house by the bank of WulongTan and taught his children to apprentice.

The old man xue Shiyu of Sangen, after resigning from the government, built "Xue Lu" in Wulongtan and served as the chief of the Xiyin Academy in Longpan at that time, and taught apprenticeship.

Wei Yuan, a famous thinker of the late Qing Dynasty, also bought land to build a house on the west side of Wulongtan, named "Xiaojuan A", wrote a book behind closed doors, and eventually became a masterpiece "Chart of the Sea Country".

Tan Yuanchun, a literary scholar at the end of the Ming Dynasty, lived on the bank of Wulongtan and wrote "Three Journeys to Wulongtan".

Third, this place should be the part of the Caojia Jiangning Weaving Garden, and the fragment of Cao Xueqin's life in the Wulongtan Weaving Garden allows him to complete the eternal "Stone Record" by "reading for ten years and adding books five times", and the Grand View Garden in "Dream of the Red Chamber" is also based on this prototype.

Later, the Cao family declined, and the garden was purchased by Yuan Ming and renamed "Sui Garden". Since then, Yuan Ming has called himself the "Old Man with the Garden", and there are works such as "Suiyuan Poetry" and "Suiyuan Food List" that have been handed down.

As one of the "Three Greats of Qianlong", Yuan Mingzhicai does not need me to say more, who would not memorize the poem "What I Saw" when he studied poetry in his childhood? Poetry Cloud:

And another of his small poems, "Moss", is also popular:

After Yuan's death, he was buried in Baibupo, next to Wulongtan, and the inscription was written by the paleographer Yao Nai.

During the Cultural Revolution, all the inscriptions in front of the tomb were destroyed, and only the tomb site remained.

In March 1974, the Wutaishan Gymnasium was built, and the tomb site of Yuan Mei was comprehensively cleaned up. As a result, the material remains that Yuan Mei left in Nanjing have since completely disappeared.

Where is the specific location of Yuan Ming's tomb? Under the grand bowling alley of the Wutaishan Gymnasium.
