Have the sugar-coated shells of capitalism hit us?

author:MH Fly

When I was a child, I often saw in textbooks that I should be careful of the sugar-coated shells of capitalism. At that time, I felt that sugar-coated shells were nothing more than using substances to seduce people's hearts. But as we grew up, we slowly discovered that sugar-coated shells are not only not so simple, but also have a very far-reaching impact on us. I hope to discuss some related topics with you in this article.

Since the sugar-coated shells were fired by capitalist countries, the first thing that cannot be avoided is of course capitalism. I'm not an economist, so I can only say something superficial. Capitalism, as the name suggests, is clearly capital as a core value. Is capital good? Of course, with capital, you can live in a big house, you can drive a good car, you can eat and drink spicy, and you can wear all kinds of luxury goods. In short, as long as there is enough capital, people's desires can be endlessly satisfied. From this point of view, capital must be good, and there is no doubt that people with capital are definitely successful people. But the question is also here, are people's desires limited? Should human desires be satisfied?

Are human desires progressing or distorting human nature? In fact, I think this is a more complex problem, because people themselves are a more complex collection. The essence of man is also an animal, but because of the formation of society, we also have a lot of elements given by society. It is precisely because of the formation of society that we humans truly stand at the top of the biological chain of the earth. So society is a very important part of humanity as a whole. From this point of view, desire can be classified into two kinds, one is beneficial to social development, and the other is hindering social development. Obviously, it is the former that we should pursue and satisfy, and the latter that we should abandon and guard against. Then back to capital to talk about desire, things seem to become clearer. Capital itself can create wealth, promote reform, and enable human society to continue to develop and upgrade. Such capital is an angel and a good medicine. But when capital becomes only to satisfy one's own selfish desires and will bring disaster to most of human society, capital becomes the devil and poison of human society.

Therefore, we can see that capital is actually a double-edged sword, and reasonable use can stimulate human desires and become the driving force for social development. And once it goes into the fire, it will become a bomb that distorts human nature and destroys human society. Therefore, we should become the tamers of capital, rather than being led by capital and becoming slaves to desire. You can think about what society will most likely become if it takes capital as its only value, and with the allure of capital to human nature. (I am not trying to allude to any social system here, but purely from the point of view of human nature.) I hope everyone doesn't take a seat at the right number. I believe that this society will become very strong in the short term, because human desires will burst forth with great power when they are strongly stimulated. But because such a society is a value that puts capital first, how can human nature not be distorted in the long run? Capital first, are the elements of morality and emotion still important? Still sought after? Is it just a vassal of money? Then people will not be people is also a high probability of the result. You can think about it, will it become like this?

When most people in society have formed such values, what will our lives become? If society judges a person's success by the amount of capital, have you ever thought about how cold, ruthless, and boring society will become? The goal of people's lives is no longer happiness, no longer morally bound, no longer emotional appeals, and there are no other more meaningful or interesting pursuits than capital. Choose a major and only look at the money. Look for a job and just look at the money. Choose a partner and just look at the money. Whether or not you sell your dignity depends only on money. Everything, as long as the money is enough, can be done. How terrible will this society become? I think that not only is it terrible, but even human society as a whole may stagnate as a result, because in such a society, man may lose the motivation to reproduce because he feels that everything has become meaningless. Is it the ultimate goal of our human social evolution to be a money-making machine in a society without moral constraints and emotional appeals?

The importance of capital needless to say, is the basis for ensuring our lives, the cornerstone of our happiness, without capital is really difficult to be happy and happy. For man has to live first. However, however, it does not mean that you must have a lot of capital to be happy and happy. So it does not mean that capital is the only pursuit of our lives. This is important, don't get lost in it. Too much capital is simply able to satisfy excessive individual desires. Excessive personal desire is not positively correlated with personal happiness and happiness. Because there is no free lunch in the world, let alone to get more capital, the cost to be paid may not be seen by yourself in a short time, only in the long river of years to slowly understand. So excessive personal desires are even negatively correlated with our physical and mental health. Let's discuss it together and see if that's the case. Therefore, I still feel that capital should not be the only measure of individual success in society, which is unhealthy. It is not only businessmen who benefit society, but also doctors, scientists, athletes, actors, singers, white-collar workers, workers, and every profession is indispensable for the progress of human society. Human society has thus become more inclusive, harmonious and colorful. When we are asking ourselves, we can have more choices, we can put aside the temptation of capital to us, and return to the original intention and heart to plan our lives. When we look at others, we can have a broader vision and mind to evaluate and understand. Wouldn't such a society be healthier and more comfortable? Don't you want to live in such a society?

So back to the idea of our title, did the sugar-coated shells of capitalism hit us? In the personal view, when a person abandons objective reasons and is trapped in excessive personal desires and struggles in reality, when society uses capital as the only criterion for judging the status of value, when we make choices that only consider the return on capital and disregard morality and emotion, we may have fallen into the sugar-coated shells of capitalism.

Finally, I would also like to say that whether it is capitalism or socialism, the law is always just the bottom line. Higher human societies should put morality and emotions first to follow and pursue. The meaning of life is in quality, not length.
