Urumqi, 30 Oct (Xinhua) -- Title: "Legend" Zhang Xin: A small border town "PUBG" and "high-tech" equipment " world

Xinhua News Agency reporter Du Gang

In Xinjiang, ordinary people mentioned Zhang Xin, chairman and founder of TBEA Electric Co., Ltd., and the two words used the most were "son doll" (a person with ability and responsibility) and "legend".

The 40th anniversary of reform and opening up is also the 30th anniversary of TBEA's entrepreneurship. "Bathing in the spring breeze of reform and opening up all the way is the biggest beneficiary of reform and opening up" - this is Zhang Xin's latest note to TBEA.

Many people find it incredible that in China's underdeveloped areas, a small private enterprise has found a vitality in the ruined factory building, broken the foreign monopoly in the field of high-end manufacturing of power transmission and distribution, and created another business card made in China.

Reform, with 52 people to eat

TBEA is headquartered in Changji City, more than 30 kilometers west of Urumqi. In the company park stands a stone with the inscription "Reform is special change".

The clock turns to 1988. TBEA's predecessor was changji transformer factory, with total assets of less than 160,000 yuan and insolvent 730,000 yuan, and Zhang Xin was a technician in the factory.

On the fifth day of the Chinese New Year of that year, Zhang Xin, who had already received an order from another factory, came to the home of master Wang Xiuzhi to pay respects to the New Year. He clearly remembered that in the low thatched hut of Master Wang's house, there was a broken table and a few broken chairs, and several basins on the ground followed by snow water. Hearing that Zhang Xin was going to be transferred, Master Wang cried: "All of you who have the ability have left, how can we eat..." At that time, the factory had not been paid for more than half a year, and everyone was selling sheepskins on the street and struggling to survive.

This made Zhang Xin feel doubly distressed, and he decided not to leave.

With the efforts of Zhang Xin and others, the government agreed not to let the transformer factory go bankrupt, and proposed to adopt the method of leasing the first in Xinjiang, and elect the director of the factory. In the end, Zhang Xin was elected as the director of the factory with an absolute advantage, and there were 52 workers.

Faced with the factory building crushed by heavy snow, Zhang Xin led everyone to pick up bricks, plastic sheets and steel bars, set up a simple shed, and the factory began to operate.

Zhang Xin proposed that the income of employees depends on the quality of products, the quality of work and the contribution to the enterprise, temporary workers can be cadres if they do well, and cadres cannot be demoted.

"Breaking the big pot of rice and realizing more creation and sharing has greatly mobilized the enthusiasm and creativity of employees." Zhang Xin said that China has entered the great era of reform and opening up, and only then has it had a platform for TBEA to practice and create.

In 1993, Changji City Transformer Factory completed the joint-stock system transformation and established TBEA. In June 1997, TBEA was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, becoming the first transformer stock in China.

Upgrade to create a new business card made in China

After the listing, TBEA and more than a dozen domestic collective enterprises, local enterprises, state-owned enterprises, listed companies of the union and restructuring mergers and acquisitions, cultivated energy-based, power transmission and transformation of high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy and new materials composed of industrial clusters.

Zhang Xin's visit has transformed TBEA again. In 2005, when he accompanied the top management of the State Grid to visit the Tokyo Electric Power UHV Test Site, the Japanese side only allowed the State Grid and non-enterprises to visit, and Zhang Xin and others were turned away. Under the protest of Shu Yinbiao, then assistant general manager of the State Grid, the Japanese reluctantly agreed to visit.

Zhang Xin saw the experience as a disgrace and decided to start developing UHV.

At that time, UHV technology was only studied by a few developed countries such as Japan and Germany, and there was no precedent for successful commercialization. UHV technology can reduce the cost of energy transmission and improve the imbalance between energy distribution and consumption in China.

Three years later, TBEA produced the world's first 1,000 kV UHV substation.

Since then, TBEA has ushered in a period of technological innovation, achieving 160 major breakthroughs in independent technologies; accumulatively applied for more than 1,200 patents, technical secrets, software copyrights, etc.; and participated in nearly 200 domestic and foreign standard revisions.

After the "Belt and Road" initiative was proposed, TBEA's high-tech products and services entered more than 70 countries and regions such as the United States, India, Russia, Tajikistan, Angola, etc., and UHV transmission became the third Chinese-made business card after high-speed rail and nuclear power.

Cooperation, with high and new technology to "equip" the world

According to TBEA's plan, the company will continue to increase investment in Xinjiang in the future to promote and drive the local economic development: on the basis of the existing polysilicon manufacturing base with an annual output of 30,000 tons, accelerate 3. The construction progress of the 60,000-ton/year high-purity polysilicon industry upgrading project; around the new materials, accelerate the construction of the world's largest high-purity high-quality aluminum-based and aluminum electronic new materials industrial base; promote Xinjiang to build an internationally competitive advanced equipment manufacturing base and a major technical equipment strategic base.

"China's cooperation with Asian and European countries is in the best period in history." Zhang Xin said that Xinjiang is the core area of the "Silk Road Economic Belt", TBEA will make full use of this advantage, accelerate the pace of "going out", expand international production capacity cooperation, provide services in operation, maintenance and training for the country where the project is located, and let "Made in China" innovate and "equip" the world.

Under the "Belt and Road" initiative, TBEA is relying on China's leading power transmission and distribution technology in the world, relying on its brand influence and system solution capabilities that have been formed in the construction of global power and power grids, actively participating in relevant national power planning and power grid infrastructure construction, and providing main grid and distribution network planning and comprehensive development and construction solutions for hydropower, thermal power, solar energy, wind energy and other energy sources for countries along the "Belt and Road".

Zhang Xin said that TBEA will practice energy cooperation from the aspects of integrated development, harmonious development and win-win development of all countries, and use advanced technology, product and service concepts to provide services for the upgrading of the power industry in countries along the "Belt and Road", which is also the starting point of TBEA cooperation.
