Henry Fonda was known to his relatives and friends as "Hank". Fonda participated in Broadway stage performances in her early years and began filming after 1935. During his 46-year career, Fonda has starred in an impressive series of films, playing roles as both decent and villainous. He is the winner of the Academy Award for Best Actor, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement, and the Golden Globe Award for Lifetime Achievement. In 1999, he was named the 6th greatest male film star of a hundred years by the American Film Institute.

Henry Fonda was born into a Christian family. His father wanted Henry to become a journalist in the future, and in order to fulfill his father's wishes, he entered the University of Minsonida after graduating from high school. During this period, due to his love of theater, he joined an amateur theater troupe organized by the mother of American film actor Marlon Brando from 1926 onwards. Because he often went to perform in various places, his studies were deserted, and he was expelled from school if he failed the exams. An agent stumbled upon his acting talents and introduced him to Broadway, where he began his stage career.

Henry Fonda was married five times in his lifetime, the first marriage to actress Margaret Sullivan, which ended because of their personalities. His two children, Jane Fonda and Peter Fonda, were the children of his third wife, Frances Ford Seymour, who inherited the mantle of her father and was also a Hollywood superstar. Seymour, who had been suffering from mental illness and could not bear the blow of his divorce from Henry Fonda, committed suicide by slitting his throat in a mental hospital in 1950. Daughter Jane Fonda had a long-standing conflict with Henry Fonda because of her mother's suicide, and the father and daughter did not reconcile until shortly before Henry Fonda's death.
