Zhang Tingyu (Chinese: 张廷玉; pinyin: Zhīng Yīng Yīng), a native of Tongcheng, Anhui, was born in October of the eleventh year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1672) and died in April of the 20th year of Qianlong (1755), a famous courtier of the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong dynasties, and the only Hanchen worthy of the Taimiao Temple in the nearly three hundred years of the history of the Qing Dynasty.

Zhang Tingyu was born in the family of official eunuchs, and from an early age, coupled with the words and deeds of his father, he was like a fish in the water as soon as he entered the career, from kangxi becoming the emperor's personal secretary in the forty-fourth year to Qianlong's thirteenth year proposing to return to his hometown, he has always been one of the core members of the political center of the Qing Dynasty. During the Kangxi Dynasty, he was promoted to a university scholar and chief military minister, and was also in charge of the two key departments of the official department and the household department, and also gave him the gift of enjoying the Taimiao Temple; after Qianlong ascended the throne, he honored him as the head of the Han Dynasty and was awarded the title of third-class earl, which can be said to be above ten thousand people under one person, and he achieved the ultimate in being an official.

Zhang Tingyu has been standing in the official field for more than forty years, in addition to the talent that is within the reach of very people, more importantly, he is well versed in the principle of "seeking nothing and seeking nothing, with no private private", and his most reasonable famous saying "ten thousand words are better than one silence", which has been regarded as a classic of workplace philosophy. Discouraged, Zhang Tingyu had the idea of telling the old man to return to his hometown to recuperate.

After the New Year Group meeting in the thirteenth year of Qianlong (1748), Zhang Tingyu took advantage of the emperor's happiness to report on his thoughts and put forward a request that "he is nearly eighty years old, please return to his hometown with honor.". Who knows that the emperor does not agree, but also said a big truth, meaning that you can't do big things, but it is not bad to have experience as a consultant, not to mention that my family has given you so much, you don't bow down and repay the emperor's favor, you actually want to go back to enjoy the blessings, is this not for personal gain? Zhang Tingyu read a lot of books, citing scriptures in an attempt to persuade the emperor; the emperor's books were also read a lot, and the officials had big mouths, Zhang Tingyu said that this matter would collapse.

What was even more unexpected was that the next day Qianlong issued a special edict on this matter, making the content of the private discussion between the two men public, and rising to the height of "the great righteousness of the monarchs and ministers" and the "festival of the courtiers," seriously criticizing Zhang Tingyu's backward thinking that he only wanted to enjoy his own happiness and was unwilling to serve the country, saying that "those who are subjects must not have such a heart," and asked the hundred officials to give a self-analysis and self-analysis to enhance their understanding, so that Zhang Tingyu, who was seventy-six years old, was almost frightened.

With a big heart disease, where can Zhang Tingyu still go to work well? Seeing that the body is not as good as a day, and sometimes talking upside down, it is really useless. Qianlong looked at him like this, thinking that it was not easy for him to be loyal and diligent and dedicated for more than forty years, so he gave a will, saying, I really don't want you! Whether to go or stay, you make a choice yourself.

Zhang Tingyu returned to his hometown with a sincere heart, and even forgot to say such kind words as "I don't want you, why do I have more than enough heart and insufficient strength", and immediately played Xie En, and also explained that I would leave in the spring of the year. Although Qianlong was unhappy in his heart, he was also magnanimous and did not bother with him anymore. At this point, Zhang Tingyu was about to land safely.

The Qianlong Emperor was deeply saddened by the news, and his feelings of longing for him sprang up, and he then announced that he would forgive Zhang Tingyu for all his transgressions and still order him to enjoy the Taimiao Temple.

Later, Qianlong also wrote a poem, saying that if Zhang Tingyu knew about Quanxia, he didn't know how grateful he would be!
