Xi Jian was the son of an official eunuch, and by the time of his generation, the family road had already fallen, and he made a living by cultivating and reading. In fact, when the two words are combined, they cannot make a living. Ploughing, in order to survive. And reading is just dragging the hind legs of farming. There are two reasons why I say that Xi Jian geng reads for a living:

Wang Xizhi's calligraphy was so good, but it was a pity that it had been lost!

First, the old books say that he constantly recited the classics of his ancestors when he was farming, indicating that he combined cultivation with reading well, and studied while working. Labor is learning, and learning is also labor. Second, Chinese intellectuals have a good face, and they talk about what to cultivate and read heirlooms. When a rich man says this, it means that he has not forgotten his roots; if he has no money, he says this, it means that he has a good family style and a good background. Especially for people like Xi Jian, we must talk about farming and reading for a living. As a result, Xi Jian was able to enjoy a great name at that time, and was favored by the Zhongzheng officials. He became a subordinate of Sima Lun, the King of Zhao, but Xi Jian sensed that King Zhao wanted to usurp the throne, so he found a reason and resigned from the government because of illness.

In the second year of Yongkang (301), Sima Lun usurped the throne successfully, and those who followed him were promoted to high officials, and some people ridiculed Xi Jian for having no vision. As a result, Xi Jian closed the door and did not have any contact with them. In the same year, Sima Lun was overthrown and Emperor Hui was restored. Xi Jian (郗鉴參司空) (寔寔) was a military officer, and later served successively as a prince Zhongshe ren and a Zhongshu shilang.

Sima Yue, the king of the Eastern Seas, thought that Xi Jian had a vision, so he was appointed as the main book; and he was also included in the list of juxian Liang, but Xi Jian did not accept it. Xi Jian thought that the world was in chaos and refused to answer the call. He also pushed away the plan of others to make him the leader, and fled.

When Xi Jian returned to his hometown, it was the great famine, and the townspeople discussed that the Son of Heaven was in exile, so it was better to find a benevolent person to tide over the difficulties first. Everyone unanimously elected Xi Jian as the leader, so Xi Jian took this group of people and more than a thousand households and fled to take refuge in the Yi Mountains of Ludi.

When Sima Rui, the emperor of the Jin Dynasty, guarded Jiangzuo, he appointed Xi Jian as the general of Long Jun and the assassin of Yanzhou, and left the town of Zoushan. At that time, there were three Yanzhou assassins, Li Shu of the Xun faction and Liu Yan of the Liu Kun faction, each based on a county, and each of them was in opposition to each other. Within three years, Xi Jianguan had more and more people, and there were tens of thousands of people, so Sima Rui made him a general of the auxiliary state and a military governor of Yanzhou. From then on, Xi Jian began a military and political career in Qingyun, until he was a lieutenant. He fought in the southern and northern wars, stopped the struggle between the main warriors who had deposed the deposed Wang Dao by the western general Yu Liang, and enabled the Eastern Jin Dynasty, which had experienced two major turmoils, to maintain stability and embark on the road of recovery. The calligraphers of that era were really bullish.

Having said that Xi Jian has so many topics that have nothing to do with calligraphy, in fact, the kung fu that the ancients said was in addition to the words, xi Jian went from a poor Confucian who was poor in family and lived in cultivation and reading to a courtier who was a heavy courtier, and his life trajectory explained his cultivation behavior. Xi Jian's life seems to be full of drama, but that step does not fully show the light of his wisdom. He will not hesitate to refuse when he should refuse; he will stand up despite his body when he should stand up; he will fight bravely to kill the enemy; he will strive for unity when it is stable. Lu Ji learned from him a little, and he would not die at the age of 43. The most important thing is to know the progress and retreat, and at the height of his life, he withdrew from the political stage. Every day is not a holiday year, and his life has also withdrawn from the stage of life.

Throughout his life, after Emperor Ming of Jin ascended the throne, Xi Jian returned to Beijing and put an end to the unscrupulous general Wang Dun.

In the second year of Xianhe, the Rebellion of Su Jun broke out, and Xi Jian insisted on holding On Guangling. Seizing the opportunity to cross the river and meet with the Qinwang rebels, Xi Jian knew that he must take the initiative to show goodwill and support the rebels as a wang master in order to take them back to Jingkou and defend their health. Xian He spent four years finally chasing down Su Yi, the leader of the rebels who were fleeing in all directions, and surrendered more than 10,000 remnants of Su Yi. Xi Jian took every step of the way, did not show weakness, did not take the initiative, and released goodwill, so that the main point of the problem, the displaced people also had full trust in him. The problem of displaced people began with Sima Rui, the emperor of the Jin Dynasty, who, after entering Jiankang, was deeply suspicious of the displaced people from the south and did not allow them to cross the river and let them stay in the north and south of the Huai River. After su jun's rebellion, Xi Jian, Wang Dao, and Bian Xi were entrusted with the edict to assist Emperor Jincheng and command the displaced people in the south, and for many years they were stationed at Jingkou to guard Jiankang.

At this time, the general Tao Kan and his cousin Yu Liang proposed to Xi Jian to depose Wang Dao, but he refused. In his view, the country was in chaos, which affected the stability of the regime. The recurrence of disasters between the various gatekeepers in power in the DPRK and China will further weaken the ruling ability of the Jin Dynasty. Proceeding from the maintenance of the overall situation, he decisively stopped the struggle of the warriors in the DPRK.

Looking back at Xi Jian's experience, it is not difficult to find that the size of the pattern will affect his political vision, vision of the world, and vision of literature, including artistic vision. Especially in the matter of preventing the struggle of the warriors, if we look at history, we will find that the vast majority of readers choose what they think is right or profit-related. Another approach is to not participate or to go it alone. Xi Jian chose the method that was most unfavorable to him, stopping and persuading them. In the late Western Jin Dynasty, chaotic, you sang and I appeared, and it was normal for me to be forced to take sides as courtiers, but Xi Jian was never involved in these disputes. Xi Jian played a pivotal role in the stability of the Eastern Jin Dynasty.

Xi Jian believed that the children of the Wang family at that time were talented and extremely free, so he wrote a letter to Wang Dao, explaining that he wanted to choose a son-in-law among his sons. Wang Daoren instructed his men to go down to the East Wing room to turn around, and the next person came back to report Xi Jian, and the children of the Wang family heard that the Xi family had come to find their son-in-law, and they took it very seriously, and there was only one young man, his clothes were not neat, his stomach was exposed, and he was reading a book without anyone around. Xi Jian said: Just choose him, really a good son-in-law. When I inquired, it was Wang Xizhi. The four words "East Bed Quick Son-in-Law" came from this.

Lu Xun said: "The roots of China are all in Taoism, and this theory has been widely practiced recently. Reading history in this way, there are many problems that can be solved. From this, it is said that Xi Jian's only surviving "Disaster Post" in the "Chunhua Ge Ti", from which it can be read that Xi Jian used the philosophical speculation of Dao Fa nature in artistic creation, and what he read from his "Disaster Post" is clean, ethereal, and beautiful. For the family family, calligraphy was an important means of communication, and the "doushu" was popular in that era. Since the Western Jin Dynasty, the rise of calligraphy fever has led to the climax of the entire scholar class to learn calligraphy, and during this period, the new style of calligraphy has gradually moved from the conscious development of the folk to the official use. Among them, calligraphy, calligraphy and cursive writing were particularly popular among the scholarly class, and calligraphy became an important way for them to express their thoughts and happy spirits.
