It can be seen from this that the "Tengsnake" made a move of "prostrating" after seeing the Yellow Emperor. In other words, the "Tengsnake" saw the Yellow Emperor passing by, did not dare to fly in the sky, and quickly bowed down to salute. The Huainanzi Meditations contains: "Riding on a thunder car, serving and driving a dragon, riding a green dragon, aiding Jie rui, Xi Luotu, Huang Yunluo, former white mantis, backward running snake, floating and shaking, Dao ghost god, ascending to the nine heavens, emperor Yu Lingmen, Mi Mu Xiu under Taizu." The original text of this paragraph is intended to praise the spirit of Fuxi and Nüwa, although they are great, they do not show off. And the "running snake" is in a state of following it here.
Although "Ben Snake" follows the convoy of Fuxi and Nuwa, his identity is worth playing. At this time, was the "running snake" a member of the Fuxi and Nuwa systems? Or is it purely out of adoration and spontaneously following behind the convoy?
It is assumed that the "running snake" is "tengsnake" is true. If the "ben snake" is a member of the Fuxi and Nüwa system, then his practice of "fudi" before the Yellow Emperor is extremely unreasonable, after all, the qualifications of Fuxi and Nüwa are higher than those of the Yellow Emperor, which will not only offend their own masters, but also make it difficult for the Yellow Emperor to do it. Then if the "Ben Snake" is not a member of the Fuxi and Nüwa systems, but is simply worshiping and following, then its behavior of "Thick Yellow Emperor Thin Fuxi and Nüwa" is also illogical.
Therefore, it is said that the "running snake" and the "tengsnake" are the same flying snake, but they are not the same kind; or they are the same kind, but the status is different; or their different practices are only the differentiated manifestations of different individuals or small groups in the same group.
Combining the descriptions of "Ben Snake" and "Tengsnake" in the Huainanzi Meditation And Han Feizi Ten Guo, two relatively reasonable conclusions can be drawn. First, both "Tengsnake" and "Running Snake" refer to a flying snake, and its name is also "clan name", not just the "personal name" of a snake. Second, the "Tengsnake" or "Running Snake" is not high in strength and status, but is only well known for its high recognition of the "flying snake", if the discussion between the two is really high, then the "Back Running Snake" is obviously more superficial than the "Tengsnake Lying on the Ground".
The natural enemy of the "Tengsnake"
In the Huainan zi shu lin xun, it is written, "The snake swims in the fog, and the maggot is lost." In other words, although the "Tengsnake" can fly in the sky, it still has to be restrained by the natural enemy centipede. [Ming] Li Shizhen quoted this sentence in the "Compendium of Materia Medica, Insects, Centipedes", and noted: "(Centipede) its performance to make snakes, suddenly see the big snake, and then eat its brain." It is also a direct affirmation of the fact that "Teng Snake" is also a snake.
The breeding method of the "Tengsnake"
One of the differences between the "Teng Snake" and other snakes is that its breeding and mating method is unique. In the "Huainanzi Tai Ethnic Training", it is said: "The male song of the snake is in the upper wind, and the female is formed in the downwind, and the essence is also to the end." The gist is that the mating of the male and female "tengsnake" does not require physical entanglement, only the male snake barks at the upper wind to the female snake in the downwind, and the female snake responds with the same chirping to conceive. "Spermless conception" is obviously a bit too bizarre, but through the flying characteristics of "Teng snake" and the performance during mating, it can be inferred that the mating method of "Teng snake" is most likely to be in the air to pass sperm.
