One of the harem sisters of the Qing court: Xiaozhuang and Concubine Chen

author:A fat beauty who loves history and loves gossip

Due to the Qing Dynasty's concubine selection system, it was often the case in the court that the concubines were from the same family or relatives. Today I would like to introduce you to several pairs of sister flowers in the harem of the Qing Dynasty. The sister flowers in this article are limited to half-siblings, and cousins and cousins are not among them. The first pair of sister flowers: Empress Xiaozhuangwen of Emperor Taizong of the Qing Dynasty and Min Huigong and Princess Yuan.

"The Secret History of Xiaozhuang" stills Empress Xiaozhuangwen and Empress Xiaoduanwen

Empress Xiaozhuangwen, of the Borjigit clan, whose name is Bumubutai, is also translated as Benbutai, meaning "noble person descended from heaven" (so it is not correct to say that Xiaozhuang is called "Dayu'er" in the Secret History of Xiaozhuang). She was the daughter of Horqin Belle Zaisang, the niece of Empress Xiaoduanwen, and the sister of Min Huigong and Princess Yuan. Bumubutai had three daughters and one son, the eldest daughter Yatu, that is, Princess Gulun Yongmu Chang; the second daughter Attu, that is, Princess Gulun Shuhui Chang; the third daughter, that is, Princess Gulun Shuzhe Chang; and the son Ai Xinjue Luo Fulin, that is, the Shunzhi Emperor.

The Mandate of Heaven was ten years old to marry Emperor Taiji, the eighth son of Nurhaci, as a side Fujin, and at this time, Emperor Taiji's Great Fu Jin was Bumubutai's maternal aunt, and later Empress Xiaoduanwen Zhezhe. After the beginning of jin tiancong, Nurhaci died, the emperor Taiji officially took the khan's throne, Zhezhe was named the grand concubine, called the middle palace dafujin; Bumubutai was named the western concubine, called the western palace Fujin, because at this time the position of the eastern palace Fujin was vacant, so bumubutai ranked second in the harem. In the first year of Chongde, Emperor Taiji called himself emperor and established the "Chongde Five Palaces", and Bumubutai was crowned as the Concubine of Yongfu Palace, that is, the Fujin of the Cixi Palace, at the end of the "Chongde Five Palaces".

In the eighth year of Chongde (1643), Emperor Taiji died, and Fu Lin took the throne as the Shunzhi Emperor. It may be due to the incompleteness of the system and etiquette, or it may be that it was The Prince of Rui Who really held power at this time, Dolgun, rather than the mother and son of Bumubutai. Before Shunzhi's pro-government, Bumubutai, as the birth mother of the new emperor, did not receive the title of "Empress Dowager", and among the surviving concubines of Emperor Taiji, her status was second to that of Empress Xiaoduanwen Zhezhe (Zhonggong Guojun Fujin), Yijing Grand Noble Concubine Namu zhong (Xigong Daifujin), and Kang Huishu (Cidonggong Side Fujin). For example, in the "Manchu Old Archives", it is recorded that "on the twentieth day of the first month of the sixth year of Shunzhi, the tribute emperor Erut Abarai no Yan horse 505 horses, the Great Fu Jin of Abarai Noyan presented twenty horses to Gulun Erzhen Fujin, the little Fu Jin of Abarai Noyan presented ten horses to the Great Fu Jin of the Western Palace, and the son of Abarai Noyan, ChawangTaiji, presented ten horses to Bomubo Gol Ago. "Here Gulun Erzhen Fujin refers to Empress Xiaoduanwen Zhezhe, and Saigu Daifujin refers to Yijing Grand Concubine Namu Zhong. The Tribute of the Mongol Tribes did not have a share of Bumubutai. After dorgon fell off his horse and died, Shunzhi was pro-government, and Bumubutai was awarded the title of Empress Dowager with the insignia "Zhaosheng Cishou". After the Kangxi Emperor ascended the throne, he was honored as empress dowager, and after several insignia, he was finally "Zhaosheng Cishou Gong Jian An Yi Zhang Qing Qing Hui Wen Zhuang Kang and Ren Xuan Hongjing Empress Dowager". Kangxi died in the twenty-sixth year, at the age of seventy-five, and was buried in the Zhaoxi Mausoleum. Yongzheng and Qianlong accumulated and added to the post, 谥曰: 孝庄仁宣诚宪宪恭懿至德纯徽翊天启聖文皇后.

"The Secret History of Xiaozhuang" stills Yi Jing Grand Concubine and Concubine Hai Lanzhu

Min Huigong and Yuan Fei, borjigit clan, the name Hailan Zhu, meaning "jade", so it is a little possible that Hai Lan Zhu is called "Big Jade". Daughter of Horqin Belle Zaisang, niece of Empress Xiaoduanwen, sister of Empress Xiaozhuangwen.

In the eighth year of Tiancong, Hai Lanzhu married Emperor Taiji. In the first year of Chongde (1636), he was enthroned as a concubine of Guanju Palace, that is, the Eastern Palace Daifukujin, the second in the "Chongde Five Palaces". Here I would like to say that the original Emperor Taiji was born to an Eastern Palace Fujin, the daughter of beyledai of the Zarut Ministry, bore two daughters, bore the sixth daughter of the Emperor and the ninth daughter of the Emperor Taiji in the seventh year of Tiancong and the ninth year of Tiancong, respectively. However, just ten days after giving birth to the ninth daughter of the Emperor, the Borjigit clan was suddenly suspended by the Emperor Taiji, and instead gave her to Nan chu of Yehebu. After that, Hai Lan Zhu became the Great Fu Jin of the Eastern Palace, so there is a saying that in addition to the Facti clan of the Emperor Taiji who did not like this Zarut department, the most important thing was to give Hai Lan Zhu a place, so that he could give away Fu Jin, who had two daughters. In the second year of Chongde, Hai Lanzhu gave birth to the eighth son of Emperor Taiji, and Emperor Taiji ordered a general amnesty for the world, which was the treatment of the crown prince. But the eighth son of the Emperor died prematurely. Hai Lanzhu was hit by the death of his beloved son, and soon died of incense and jade, enjoying the third Chinese New Year's Eve, and was buried in the Qing Zhao Mausoleum, known as "Min Huigong and Yuan Concubine", which was the emperor concubine with the most honorific titles in the Qing Dynasty.

"Yuanfei" originally meant "Yuanfei", referring to the first wife (Lady Zheng), in the later Jin and early Qing Dynasties, Yuanfei referred to the Great Khan and the kings, Belle, the original concubine of the prince Fu jin. Tong Jia Hahana Zaqing, the original companion of the Qing Taizu Nurhaci, was known as the Taizu Yuan Concubine. It can be seen that in the heart of Emperor Taiji, Hai Lanzhu is his wife. After Hai Lanzhu's death, her sacrifices were very frequent, with monthly and monthly festivals, and the annual Qingming, Zhongyuan, Winter Solstice, and Twilight Festivals. However, this pomp and circumstance lasted only two years, because with the death of Emperor Taiji, this once-favored concubine was deliberately suppressed and forgotten, and the sacrifice was cut off. This is said from the following accounts:

1. The Shengjing Tongzhi (which was compiled at the behest of the Kangxi Emperor) records that "Zhaoling ... Emperor Taizong Wen and Empress Wen (孝端) were enshrined in the throne. The noble concubine is on the right side of the mausoleum. "The noble concubine here obviously refers to the Emperor Taiji's Yijing Grand Concubine. Xiaozhuang died in the 26th year of the Kangxi Dynasty, when she was still alive, and the official letter to be submitted to the imperial court no longer mentioned the empress dowager's half-sister Hai Lanzhu.

2. The Qing Shilu records that qianlong sent officials to "Yijing Grand Concubine, Concubine Kang Shu and Princess Garden" in the eighth year to sacrifice. MingMing Hai Lan Zhu is also buried here, and Hai Lan Zhu as the Emperor Taiji's Eastern Palace Dafu Jin is above the status of Yi Jing's Grand Concubine, but the garden bed is called "Yi Jing Grand Guifei, Kang Shu Concubine Garden Bed", and one of the Concubines is quietly erased.

3. The Ceremonial Fold of the Jiaqing Period "Ministers, etc. are careful to check the ceremony." and the Ministry of Ministers. Inside. Fuling Zhaoling Concubine Garden sleeps around. Yishou Kang Taifei, Yi Chenfei, Yiyi Jing Grand Concubine, Yi Kang Hui Shu Concubine. Check the Qianlong room again. Successive ceremonies in Beijing, the names of concubines of the sacrifices contained in the archives of the ministry of ministers, were issued, and the concubines of Shoukang, Ambhu Fujin, Qide and Mother, who were buried in Fuling. Nine of them were buried in the Zhaoling Tombs, including Grand Concubine Yijing, Consort Kang Huishu and Gege. In the same year, according to the shengjing sanling chief yamen book, the name of the concubine was also the same as that of the minister. One of its concubines, it was not loaded. When the ministers and others will participate in the conventions, the rules of the conventions are different. After the consultation was removed, it was hereby approved, and there was no reliability in the place. He also consulted the Zongren Mansion and reported it. ...... The eight years of Qianlong and the concubines of the sacrifices contained in the archives of the previous dynasties were handled in accordance with the examples of the Kangxi Dynasty. All the concubines in the ZhaoLing Garden, why he Jing did not open a concubine, the next year is long, there is no way to examine, the ministers and so on really dare not mean to add. I would like to continue to honor the title of concubine who has been sacrificed in the past..." From this recital, it can be seen that at least during the Kangxi period, the sacrifice of Concubine Hailanzhu was stopped.

Deliberately erasing the name of Concubine Hai lanzhu and stopping the sacrifice, who meant it, there was only one person, that is, Hai Lanzhu's sister, Empress Xiaozhuangwen Bumubutai. Therefore, this pair of sisters should have a bad relationship before they died, whether it is Hai Lanzhu's exclusive pet bullying sister, or Xiaozhuang's jealous sister, we don't know. Only from the above records, even after the death of Hai Lanzhu, Xiaozhuang could not let go, so he stopped the sister's sacrifice and deliberately did not mention his sister's name, so in the "Secret History of Xiaozhuang", before Hai Lanzhu died, the reconciliation between the two sisters was absolutely nonsense.
