This was true that Liu Xiu said to Geng Yi at that time, but if it rose to the level of universality for most people or even all people, it might not be the same.

Kong Shengren was ambitious, and in the face of the collapse of the ceremony in the Spring and Autumn Period, he wanted to restore the Zhou Ritual, and spent his life running for it, traveling around the world, running into walls everywhere, "panic like a dog that lost his family". Moreover, it is precisely because of "success" that we will know that they have "aspirations", but more those who "have aspirations" and "things do not succeed", which are lost in the vast river of history and are not known.

Of course, it does not mean that a person does not want ambitions and ideals, on the contrary, if a person wants to live happily and meaningfully, he should have ambitions and ideals. As long as there is ambition, it is good, so that there is a goal to move forward and life to have meaning. And the process is the most important and wonderful, do not care too much about "success", "failure".
