Q1: As a generation that has accompanied the growth of Chinese design, can you tell us about your design journey?

Wang Kun: It is also a coincidence, when I first moved from Nanjing to Shenzhen, I was originally to help my friends design a restaurant, travel and play by the way, but unexpectedly created Yiding Design Company, focusing on the business of catering space and brand design, gradually developing and occupying a place in the industry, this stay is more than 20 years, but also witnessed the brutal growth, rise and expansion of Shenzhen interior design forces, mature leaps and other stages, is a very rare experience and wealth. The times give us both tempering and opportunities, so young designers should be prepared to seize the wind in the future and achieve self-transformation.

Q2: What's the thing that makes you feel most proud or touched along the way?

Wang Kun: It is a great relief that the design has landed in many catering brand spaces that are loved by the public, and the design career of more than 20 years is not long, and it is not short, and it has also indirectly contributed to the upgrading and iteration of many catering brands, such as rough stone steak, Xingmeiju, Coconut, Huang Jihuang, etc. are all brands that have grown up with us. There is also a sense of accomplishment in seeing many brands stand out in the huge and complex catering. Helping catering brands seize the minds of customers, seize market opportunities, and create beautiful and interesting new and trendy experiences for people is consistent with our original intention of "creating fun and creating beauty".

Q3: Along the way, what changes do you feel have taken place in the internal and external environment of Chinese design?

Wang Kun: People say that the only constant in the world is change itself. The design environment also changes with the changes in the economic environment, in the past, the barbaric growth period valued efficiency, the source of information was relatively single, and the promotion of works valued magazines and other design publications; later periods and experienced the cruel screening of time, growth slowed down but there was a qualitative leap; today a hundred flowers bloom, design styles are diversified, the network is developing rapidly, the information explosion grows, and there is a good situation of hundreds of boats competing for design concepts and design strategies. The emergence of new opportunities such as the maturity of new media and the trend of intelligence, and the unpredictable impact of black swans (epidemics), are all a huge test of the comprehensive strength of designers and design companies.

Q4: As the backbone of our Chinese design, what aspects do you think should be paid attention to in the development of Chinese design?

Wang Kun: Design is always changing according to people's needs, and people-oriented is the constant theme. People's attention to nature and health has increased, reflected in the trend of naturalization and refinement in interior design, followed by the improvement of the level of life, the improvement of people's artistic taste, and the satisfaction of spiritual needs has also become a prerequisite. Finally, the expressiveness of high and new technologies has come to the fore and the infiltration of humanistic feelings. Efficient, convenient, trendy, personality, in short, design serves people, with the rapid development of people's needs and constantly updated iterations. We strive for an ultimate ideal of "design for a better life".
