Old poverty alleviation cadres: Familiar scenes reminisce about the past

This year, the national archives bureau determined the theme of the International Archives Day as "Archives Witness the Road to Moderate Prosperity, Focus on the Decisive Period of Poverty Alleviation". Focusing on this theme, the Guangzhou Municipal National Archives shows the real scene of Guangzhou's counterparts helping Guizhou Bijie City, Qiannan Prefecture, Tibet Bomi County, Xinjiang Shufu County, Sichuan Ganzi Prefecture, Chongqing Wushan County, Guangdong Meizhou City, Qingyuan City and other eight places to get rid of poverty in recent years from the perspective of infrastructure, industry, education, and medical care.

The precious photographs selected in the exhibition reflect the gratifying changes in the areas being helped: the infrastructure has grown from scratch, the scale of the industry has grown from small to large, the number of poor households has decreased year by year, and the quality of education and medical care have been continuously improved... The exhibition not only systematically shows the remarkable achievements of Guangzhou's poverty alleviation and the fruitful poverty alleviation results of the helped areas, but also fully demonstrates the spiritual outlook of Guangzhou's poverty alleviation cadres who face difficulties and dare to tackle tough problems.

"Although it was 8 years ago that I became a poverty alleviation cadre in the village, I was still very excited to see these familiar scenes." Xia Qiang, deputy director of the Organization Department of the GAC Group who was stationed in Lianxi Village, Xingzi Town, Lianzhou, stopped in front of the "GAC Class" after viewing the exhibition and said.

More than 10,000 archival photos of the aid were provided to the county

Curator Feng Qiuhang told reporters that archivists shoulder the mission of "managing files for the party, guarding history for the country, and serving the people." Only guangzhou aided the archives of Shufu County in Xinjiang, and the Guangzhou Municipal National Archives has accepted 2612 documents and archives, 138 volumes of infrastructure archives, 187 volumes of accounting archives, 21 physical archives, 2283 paper photo archives, 13533 digital photos, and 129 cd-roms. In addition, there are archives of poverty alleviation cadres Chen Huaming and Guo Jiannan, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of poverty alleviation. "The Guangzhou Aid Poverty Alleviation Archive will be an important witness to this magnificent battle against poverty and will be permanently stored in our museum."

How to sort out the context of Guangzhou's poverty alleviation road from the numerous archives? Dr. Tang Zhenquan, curator of the exhibition and guangzhou national archives, told reporters that the key to the archival exhibition is to "see greatness in the ordinary", attract people with beauty, and impress people with storytelling. Therefore, the exhibition carefully selects photos and other archives to highlight the stories of the people being helped and the stories of the poverty alleviation cadres.

The archives on poverty alleviation will be compiled and researched into a book

"We don't just have to manage the archives well, but more importantly, we put it to good use." Feng Qiuhang said that next, the Guangzhou Municipal National Archives will continue to collect, sort out, protect, and make good use of all kinds of poverty alleviation archives, retain this precious national memory, and display the deeds of Ben Xiaokang, which are hidden in the words of the poverty alleviation archives, in front of the people, so as to play the role of educating people. This time, the Guangzhou Municipal National Archives intends to further sort out the archives used in the exhibition and form research materials, so that the public can understand and use the archives of poverty alleviation.

"It is very gratifying to see that it is very valuable to record this history in the form of archives and exhibitions, and to summarize this history," Xie Zhiju, a professor at the School of Public Administration of Guangzhou University, spoke highly of the exhibition content.

In addition, the Guangzhou National Archives will open an online exhibition of the Guangzhou Poverty Alleviation Exhibition on its official website and WeChat public account.
