In the anti-"encirclement and suppression" memorial hall of the Central Soviet District of Jianning County, Sanming County, there is a supplement to the "Youth Truth" of the organ of the Central Bureau of the Young Communist Party published on June 11, 1933, the International Teacher's Pictorial of the Young Communist Party. This pictorial is 58 centimeters long and 37 centimeters wide, composed of twelve paintings and a song from the period when the International Division of the Young Communist Party was stationed in Jianning, recording the heroic deeds of the little red devils of the International Division of the Young Communists of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army who sacrificed themselves and fought in blood in the red land of Jianning, which is a national first-class cultural relic.

Little boy, throw yourself into the revolution

The International Division of the Young Communist Party was established on August 5, 1933 in Ningdu County, Jiangxi Province, and was personally presented with the flag by Zhou Enlai. There are more than 10,000 people in the division, with an average age of 18 years old, and more than 70% of the young people are members of the Communist Youth League. All the division commanders were only in their 20s, and Xiao Hua, the political commissar of the division, was only 17 years old when he took office, which is extremely rare in the world's military history. No sooner had the two-month military training and political education been completed than the International Division of the Young Communist Party engaged in the fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" operation.

The tiger's claws first appeared, annihilating the enemy

The first battle was an encounter with the Nationalist Zhou Zhiqun's troops at Nakou in northern Fujian, and since it was the first time to participate in the battle, the division headquarters was cautious and sent a battalion into a pocket formation to encircle the enemy company. The conditions were harsh, with only 10 bullets per soldier, and when the battle began, the bullets ran out quickly. The warriors were not afraid of tigers, and bravely rushed into the enemy position and engaged in hand-to-hand combat.

Due to the relatively weak physique of the small soldiers and the lack of actual combat experience, the combat task issued by the superiors is two people to deal with an enemy. These little warriors in the fight one contains the enemy, and the other is responsible for assassination. Faced with the assassination of a tall enemy, 17-year-old warrior Zhong Shihua led the enemy to the cliff with a clever move, and then suddenly fell to the ground and threw the enemy off the cliff; 18-year-old warrior Zhu Genlin, after being stabbed in the chest by the enemy's bayonet, desperately clung to the enemy and created a fighter plane for his comrades... In less than two hours, a company of enemies was completely annihilated.

Taking advantage of the victory to cross the Minjiang River, the troops defeated more than 200 enemy troops, and also annihilated a platoon of the enemy at Lotus Mountain, annihilating more than 300 enemy people before and after, and capturing a lot of guns and ammunition. Such results were achieved in the first battle, and the morale of the troops was high. Zhu De, Zhou Enlai, and Yang Shangkun sent special telegrams of congratulations, praising them for the "first test of the iron fist."

Blood and life, cast loyalty

Since then, the International Division of the Young Communist Party has fought dozens of battles, including more than half of the casualties in the Battle of Shicheng Defense, and only more than 5,000 troops of more than 10,000 people are left. In the spring of 1934, they were renamed the 15th Division, and Peng Shaohui, who lost his left arm in the fourth anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign, became the commander of the division, but people still habitually called it the International Division of the Young Communist Party. Seven months later, the Red 15th Division began its Long March, taking on the task of covering and rearing the palace.

In the Battle of the Xiang River, the Red 15th Division was ordered to resist the pursuit of 4 enemy regiments in the area of Yanshouwei in western Hunan province, and cover the main force to cross the Xiang River. In the face of indiscriminate bombardment by enemy aircraft and heavy artillery, the Red 15th Division desperately achieved its strategic intentions, but the officers and men suffered heavy casualties, with only more than 2,700 people left.

Shortly after the Zunyi Conference in 1935, in order to improve the combat effectiveness of the troops, the Central Military Commission decided to reorganize the whole army. The main forces of the International Division of the Young Communist Party and the Red I Corps were merged and incorporated into the Red 1st Division and the Red 2nd Division, respectively. At this point, the Young Communist International Division, which had existed for less than a year and a half, had completed a short but glorious course of battle, and 70 percent of the soldiers of the division had sprinkled the fertile soil with blood. After the baptism of war, this unit trained a total of 13 major generals, including founding generals Xiao Hua and Peng Shaohui, lieutenant generals Cao Lihuai, Chen Zhengxiang, and Jiang Yonghui.
