What kind of arduous exploration did it take to achieve today's results? What surprises has Yu Ping brought to the industry and outside the industry by leading Tianzhao Pig Industry and using Yu-style Pig Farm? The "Interview" column of the new pastoral network of "Agricultural Treasure Book" hereby interviews Yu Ping for the benefit of readers.
In 2005, Yu Ping rented a commercial pig farm and began to raise binary sows on a trial basis. "There is no seed source, and if you introduce seeds every year, you will be stuck in the neck, and it will be expensive." After realizing the importance of breeding pigs, in 2006 he built a new ancestral pig farm and introduced 800 pic ancestral pigs. "But pic is blocked on breeding pig genetic technology." Yu Ping deeply felt that this model was unsustainable, and he sighed: "If you don't do breeding pigs, you can't do it strongly, and you can't do it much." ”
In 2006, Yu Ping embarked on the road to find breeding pigs around the world, the purpose of this trip is to get rid of the restrictions of foreign breeding.
However, foreign breeding pig companies have refused to release genetic data. However, by chance, Yu Ping met the owner of Hylife, the largest pig company in Canada at that time, and after exchanging information on China's pig breeding situation, they signed a cooperation agreement in half a year and four meetings. In addition to buying breeding pigs, Yu Ping also spent a one-time $2 million to buy out the company's use of genetic technology in China.
Due to the ability to share all the breeding data accumulated by the other party, Tianzhao Pig Industry has since gained great competitiveness in breeding pig breeding. In 2008, Tianzhao Pig Industry introduced 866 Duroc, Changbai and Dabai core breeding pigs and genetic technology improvement technologies and achievements from Fast Gene Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hylife Company; in 2013, 176 high-quality original breeds Duroc and Pitland were introduced to establish a specialized patrilineal breeding farm for independent breeding; and more than 160,000 frozen sperm were continuously introduced from Canada.
However, changes are always unexpected. In 2017, due to the acquisition of fast gene company, the contract needed to be terminated, Yu Ping considered that the time of this decade has mastered the breeding technology, "at present, there are 60,000 or 70,000 purebred breeds for breeding, which is a very large amount, and it has long been possible to breed on its own", so he agreed to cancel the contract and received a refund of 2 million US dollars from the other party.
In the same year, Tianzhao Pig Industry bought the French breeding pig and its production and breeding technology system in the same form, but the difference is that this time it was only signed for ten years. At the end of 2017, Tianzhao Pig Industry introduced 1,000 core breeding pigs of Duroc, Pitland, Changbai and Dabai from the French axiom company and genetic improvement technology and achievements, and the first litter of piglets born in August 2018 set a good result of 17 live births, and has now been officially listed for sale.
Yu Ping said that due to the experience of canadian line selection, the legal system only needs 5 years to achieve self-selection.
In addition, Yu Ping revealed that in the future, it will also consider the introduction of American and Dan systems, etc. In the next five years, Tianzhao Pig Industry will lay out 200,000 purebred pigs nationwide, create a breeding pig supermarket, and let the world's best breeding pig strains be bought in Tianzhao Pig Industry.
Today, Tianzhao Pig Industry has developed into more than 300 cooperative pig farms (including family farms) in 17 provinces across the country. However, Yu Ping sighed that the pig industry is still looked down upon by many people, and the reason is still dirty and smelly and high risk.
Yu Ping said that the mission of the Yu-style pig farm is to allow practitioners to raise pigs in the scenery. He introduced that the latest slogan of the Yu-style pig farm is "three no four provinces, scenery pig raising", three no is no sewage, no odor, no mosquitoes and flies, so that the pig environment bid farewell to the previous dirty mess; the four provinces are provincial land, provincial investment, provincial energy, provincial labor, so that pig costs are reduced and more efficient.
In 2010, after the pig and slaughtering industry lost hundreds of millions of yuan for several years, Yu Ping began to devote himself to the pig industry, firmly believing that he had the ability to improve pig efficiency and improve the working environment.
Since then, Yu Ping's professional background in management and construction has enabled him to achieve great success in the construction of pig farms, and the development of Yushi pig farms from 1.0 to today's 4.0 is still constantly updated and upgraded. In terms of environmental protection, Yushi Pig Farm not only solves the problem of pig manure and wastewater that must be solved at present, but also predictably has achieved great results in the problem of waste gas, and also escorts Tianzhao Pig Industry and its partners in biosecurity.
In 2011, Yuping Pig Began to make a profit, and Tianzhao Pig Industry also ushered in a period of rapid development. Yu Ping said confidently, "In the past, pig raising losses were too much and too bad to be injured, so that money did not dare to invest. Now the pig raising efficiency is good, so I am full of confidence in all kinds of investment. "From 2011 to 2018, Tianzhao Pig only lost a little in the second half of 2014, and the rest were profitable.
Yu Ping introduced that in the case of the high cost of pig raising in Sichuan, Tianzhao Pig Industry has achieved a cost target of less than 11 yuan / kg in Sichuan; the cost of pig raising in the northwest and Xinjiang has been further controlled at 9.5-10.5 yuan / kg.
The Tianzhao pig industry, which has a lower and lower pig cost, is developing at a high speed, so Yu Ping has set a "121" strategic goal for it, that is, wholly owned 10,000 core breeding pigs, wholly-owned + joint venture 200,000 ancestral breeding pigs, and joined + serve 1 million binary sows.

Hylife may have been impressed by our sincerity and optimism about the Chinese market, so it chose to cooperate with Tianzhao, which is also their first attempt to sell the gene system to the outside world.

Yu Ping: Without the strong support of these technologies, Tianzhao would not have developed so rapidly. Ten years have allowed us to fully grasp the core points of breeding technology, and expand the introduction of purebred pigs to today's 70,000 or 80,000 heads, which is already a considerable scale, allowing us to achieve self-selection and independent breeding.

Yu Ping: Now the number of enterprises that have introduced frozen semen in China is a trend, but Tianzhao Pig Industry began to introduce frozen essence as early as 2009. Because the frozen semen technology has now matured and is simple to operate, it is a very important supplement to the breeding system.

Yu Ping: Yes, the same as the agreement to buy the Canadian system in 2008, but this time we did not buy out, only bought ten years of service. In 2017, Tianzhao imported thousands of breeding pigs from France at one time, and the first litter of piglets had a good number of live piglets, 17 of which were currently on the market.
In the future, the legal system will not introduce seeds, because in a few years, the legal pig will already have a large enough population size, and the rich experience accumulated before will allow us to breed on our own. Yu Ping: Yu-style Pig Farm 1.0 is a traditional pig house. The 2.0 launch in 2012 was the real breakthrough, turning all the single pig houses into large pig houses. Due to the need to be completely sealed for a large pig house, coupled with the unstable domestic water and electricity supply environment at that time, the problem of ventilation and lighting was even more difficult to solve. In 2014, we began to launch the Yu-style Pig Farm 3.0, and we began to try to install fans on the roof. Because the length of the 2.0 and 3.0 pig houses can be adjusted at will, but the width is very limited, coupled with the limitation of the slope of the roof, only a few 3.0 pig farms have been built in the country.

Yu Ping: In fact, the main thing is to solve the problem of water conservation. But we didn't figure out a solution to this problem until the year before. Because the traditional blister manure process was used before, it was found that the disadvantage of this process was not solved after many years of use, that is, the problem of water saving was not solved. Now through the adjustment of breeding technology and the implementation of various water-saving measures, it is no longer a problem for pig farms to save water. Tianzhao also has pig farms in the desert of Ruoqiang, which began to develop from 650 sows in September 2013 and has now grown to nearly 10,000 sows.

Yu Ping: The one-sided pursuit of the value of psy has harmed many pig farmers. For example, there are 100 birth beds, but only 5 pigs are on the birth bed, even if the psy reaches 40 in the end, it will have to die. The PCB/pcy proposed by Tianzhao is about the utilization rate of each batch of production beds. How many pigs can be weaned in a production bed per year really affects the efficiency of the pig farm.
PCB/pcy is about asset efficiency, because the value of the birth bed itself is only two or three thousand yuan, but in terms of the investment dimension involved in the birth bed, all the auxiliary facilities add up to about 50,000 yuan per birth bed to weaning, if you add the entire conservation, fattening facilities and equipment, it is as high as 120,000 yuan. If there are no pigs in the birthing bed, the birthing bed is always vacant, which is a huge investment waste. Yu Ping: First of all, in the case of constant feed prices, the cost of pig raising in China must be controlled at 8-9 yuan / kg to compete with foreign countries. The limit of foreign pig raising costs is about 6-7 yuan / kg, mainly because of cheap grain prices, but with the grain prices of our country, controlling the cost of raising pigs at about 9 yuan / kg is already the limit. Therefore, in the past two or three years, pig companies need to quickly pull the cost to less than 10 yuan / kg, otherwise they will soon be eliminated. But even the cost of 10 yuan / kg is very laborious for some super large group pig farms in China, because their hardware facilities are not up to standard, and to achieve 10 yuan / kg, it may be necessary to dismantle and rebuild to achieve this goal.
Secondly, at present, China's environmental protection policy is still mainly focused on the three aspects of water control, soil control, and dead pigs, and the future air pollution control policy will be strictly implemented, and most of today's pig farms are facing the fate of being demolished. When the time comes, not only will the environmental protection department come to the door to hold you accountable, but the neighbors of the pig farm will also come to you to complain about pollution. Therefore, Tianzhao insists on using Yu-style pig farm 4.0 because it is because it sees that air environmental protection governance is the trend of environmental protection in the future.
Finally, I think that China can produce 500 million pigs a year in the future, only 20 million sows are needed, and I expect that at least 100-200 million pigs are raised by large enterprises, and most of them are from small and medium-sized retail households.
