Sources say Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to survive international matches and continue as manager in United's next game against Watford.

The Norwegian has spoken to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward after Saturday's 2-0 loss to Manchester City, but so far there has been no indication he will be sacked.

Sources close to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is close to 48, admit he is vulnerable after losing six of his 12 matches, but insist he has been told to start preparing for the Nov. 20 match against Vikalić Road and he is still confident of turning the tide.

Norwich City and Aston Villa parted ways with Daniel Falke and Dean Smith respectively during international competitions.

United's participation in the Champions League means they will not face Brighton at home on 18 December and Newcastle away on 27 December.

Sources have told the club that the club want solskjaer to stay in that position, at least until the end of the season, but there is a growing perception that their position will have to change if United's Champions League spot next season is threatened.

They are sixth in the table, nine points behind leaders Chelsea and five points behind the top four.

Mauricio Pochettino also has his admirer at Old Trafford, but his contract will continue into 2023 after renewing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Former Leipzig boss Ronnick is considered a viable short-term option. The 67-year-old has impressed Woodward in the past, but now he holds a senior position at Lokomotiv Moscow.
