Xi Gang (1746-1803), Qing Dynasty seal engraver, calligrapher and painter, formerly known as Gang, Character Tiesheng, Chunzhang, Luo Gong, Butterfly Wild Zi, Nickname Crane Zhusheng, Mengquan Waishi, Meng Daoshi, Xi Daoshi, Scattered Wood Resident, Donghua Nunnery Lord, originally from Shexian County (now part of Anhui), living in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He has a broad and upright personality, does not seek merit, should not be a scholar, despises the powerful, wears clothes in the end, sends love poems and paintings, landscapes and flowers, and yi rhymes. Also works poetry and good books, is good at painting, sexual loneliness, and is not a person who is not. The four bodies of calligraphy and work, line, grass, seal, and affiliation, all of which are exquisite, and are known as paintings in the world. His landscape paintings are sleek and self-satisfied, and the flowers and orchids are otherworldly. He has traveled to Japan and is famous overseas. During the Qianlong period, he was filial and honest and square, and he could not resign.
