Pudong Art Museum is located in the first line of Lujiazui Riverside, close to the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai International Convention Center, with a total construction area of 40,590 square meters, 4 floors above ground and 2 floors underground, including 13 exhibition halls of different sizes. In addition to the two "Halls of Mirrors" facing the Bund, the "X Hall" that runs through the 4th floor and 30 meters is also one of the features.

In terms of spatial interpretation, the main designer of Pudong Art Museum put forward the design concept of "one territory, one material, and some screens". The "territory" of the building is not limited to the main body of the building itself, which she is called the "white box", but also includes the surrounding grounds, green spaces, etc. The building site extends westward to the Huangpu River and is combined with the landscape planning along the river and the east bank through project; the green space on the east side is an art park extending from the Pudong Art Museum, and it is also a lawn park that hosts major outdoor events such as music festivals and art festivals.

The main materials for the façade and ground of the Pudong Art Museum are Shandong white linen granite, which creates a sense of harmony between the building and the surrounding landscape through the unity of materials. At the same time, through different grinding processes, different textures are constructed to better divide the use space.

Walk up to the westward corridor on the second floor of the building to see the ups and downs of the Pujiang River; climb to the top terrace, the Oriental Pearl on the east side is close at hand, the "crystal ball" of the Congress Center seems to be within reach, and the Puxi Bund complex is also in full view.

The screens on the west façade of the building have been carefully curated, with installation or performance spaces during the day and video images played at night. It acts like a pair of observers for viewing panoramic views of the Bund, and is able to "overprint" artwork into the Bund landscape through different lighting designs.

The visual design of the public space of Pudong Art Museum and the arrangement of ceiling lights are inspired by classic geometric lines, constantly and flexibly superimposed, seemingly random, but at the same time to meet the embodiment of lighting and geometric array beauty. The white walls are like paper, creating pure geometric shapes, and black lines, diagonal lines, and intersecting lines are like pens, presenting a visual work full of characteristics on the ceiling of the museum.
