the other 和 another
the other表示“两者中的另一个”，通常与one连用，其复数形式为the others，特指某一范围内“其余的人或物”。如：
They have two daughters. One is a worker; the other is a doctor.
I have four pens. One is red; the others are blue.
another表示“三者或更多中的另一个”，其复数形式为others，泛指不定范围的人或物。如：
I don't like this one. Show me another.
If one is not enough, take another.
You did it well. Another boy cannot have done it better than you.
We should think more of others and less of ourselves.
