The breakout single from previously little-known rapper Lil Nas X has stayed atop the Hot 100 for 17 weeks, beating out the 16-week record held in a tie between “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men since 1996 and “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee since 2017.
