Today (September 30), one of the annual dramas of the Hangzhou Museum, "Stone Appreciation - Exhibition of Calligraphy and Paintings on the Theme of Stone Appreciation in the Collection", was officially launched.
The exhibition of calligraphy and paintings, selected 38 pieces of calligraphy and paintings on the theme of stone appreciation by literati and scholars in the Ming and Qing dynasties, of which 22 were exhibited for the first time, all of which were precious cultural relics, divided into three parts: "Stone Patching", "Stone-based Creation", "Stacked Mountain Stones and Desk Qing Play", including Chen Hongshou, Gao Yang, Mi Wanzhong of the Ming Dynasty and important painters such as Chen Hongshou, Zhao Zhiqian, Pu Hua and Wu Changshuo in the Qing Dynasty. Among them, Ming mi Wan zhong 'Odd Stone Chart Axis', Qing Li Shan's "Hard Stone Figure Axis" and so on are all debuts.
Speaking of calligraphers and painters, there are not a few who love stones. Among the famous stone painters, the most famous are these three:
Su Shi, a typical stone lover. He collected many strange stones, and many of them had poems. When he was deprecating Dingzhou, he once got a strange stone, this stone has black and white veins, and the lines are like the rushing between the stones and the splashing of the waves, so it is called "Snow Wave Stone". In order to collect the Snow Wave Stone, Su Shi specially transported Han white jade from Quyang Hengshan Mountain, carved it into a hibiscus pot for placing stones, and inscribed an inscription on the lip of the pot.
The great calligrapher of the Song Dynasty, Mi Fu, was also a lifelong liberal arts stone, proficient in appreciation, and once had an anecdote of "Mi Fu worshiping stone", "(Mi Fu) knew nothing about the army, when he first entered the prefecture, he saw that the standing stone was quite strange, and he was happy: 'This is enough to worship me'. So he ordered the left and right to take the robe and worship it, and each called: 'Stone Zhang'. The speakers heard it, and the court laughed at it. ”
Mi Wanzhong, a descendant of Mi Fu and the Ming Dynasty, also loved stones, claiming to be "making friends with all the strange stones", and every time people were invited to watch these strange stones, they would "burn incense and wipe a few, and invite guests to feast", thinking that they loved the fun of stones. The "Odd Stone Scroll" exhibited this time is an important stone painting work of Mi Wanzhong.
