Director Chen Li revealed that in order to restore the trajectory of the protagonist's life, the main creative team went to Kaishan Island many times to interview and experience life, eat and live with Wang Shihua, and understand the mental journey of the island keepers in the subtleties. In filming, every scene and every shot adheres to high artistic standards.
The location of "The Island Keeper" lasted 4 months, mainly on an island. In the process, difficulties often come unexpectedly. Liu Ye revealed that in order to make his skin color texture close to the prototype of the character, he was exposed to the sea every day, and his skin burned red and swollen several times until several layers of skin were shed. Gong Zhe sighed that when the sea breeze came, it was too terrible, there was a scene of rescuing vegetable seedlings in the rainstorm, and he was wet and shivering with cold. In order to play their role well, all the actors did their best. On the first day of shooting, Hou Yong was shocked by the difficulty of shooting, but he lifted heavy weights to complete each shot.
