After careful identification, it was confirmed that this animal is called "brittle snake lizard" and is a national second-class protected wild animal in China.
Measured, this brittle snake lizard is about 15 cm long. The staff said that this is the first time in recent years that a brittle snake lizard has been found in Sichuan, and its appearance is a powerful interpretation of the gradual improvement of the local ecological environment. Through a comprehensive physical examination, it was found that the body of this brittle snake lizard had no obvious trauma, and its mental state was good, which was suitable for release conditions. After a night of observation, the next day, the villagers and staff took the brittle snake lizard into the wild and successfully released it into nature.
Brittle snake lizards, also known as golden snakes, Venus eels, broken snakes, snake lizards, earth dragons, etc., they are the same as lizards, have the habit of breaking their tails when encountering danger, hence the name. It is snake-like in appearance, non-venomous, often inhabiting the soil of mountain forests, grasses, vegetable gardens, tea gardens or under large rocks, earthworms, snails, small worms and various small insects are their food.
The brittle snake lizard is a beneficial animal for agriculture and forestry, and has high scientific research value, but its population is very rare.
