Yellow-edged box turtle, everyone knows that it is a half-water turtle, so why is it called a half-water turtle?
Half-water turtles are turtles that live near water and can forage for food in the water or on land. They live mainly in shallow areas such as swamps, streams, ponds and ditches. The depth of the water generally does not exceed the height of the turtle's own dorsal carapace.
Many friends like to simulate the original environment in the wild when raising yellow margins at home, but in fact, this is very good, and it is essential for turtles with good breeding products.
So what does the original farming environment include?

In these six aspects, we only need to set a reasonable environment for it according to our own conditions.
1. Sunlight
Yellow-edged box turtles like yin, but it does not mean that they do not need sunlight, sunlight can promote the absorption of calcium by turtles, sunlight can be sterilized and disinfected, reducing the appearance of rotten nails and rotten skin and other undesirable phenomena of turtles, so the place where the turtles are raised can be set in a place with sunlight.
2. Air
Flowing air is also necessary in order to provide sufficient oxygen, reduce the breeding of anaerobic bacteria, and reasonably regulate the humidity of the environment.
3. Soil
In addition to being an indispensable condition for growing plants, soil is also a good habitat for half-water turtles. They also eat soil to replenish the necessary trace elements. Soil is good for laterite, if not, ordinary flower mud is also OK, but remember not to choose soil with pesticide residues.
4. Creek
This creek is too much to do at home! But we can place a shallow water dish instead, which is the simplest. It is also possible to use a submersible pump to simulate the effect of a creek. In captive rearing environments, we recommend adding a timed spray to simulate the state of the wild afternoon, and the yellow-edged box turtle prefers to come out after the rain to forage and move.
5. Deciduous leaves
Deciduous leaves are recommended to choose dry longan leaves, or other non-toxic leaves, and distribute them evenly on land for the yellow-edged turtle to use as a shelter.
6. Plants
It is recommended to plant non-toxic plants, and the ability of the yellow-edged turtle to plague plants is not generally strong. Small plants are recommended to be packed in pots, and large plants do not matter.
