At the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, the city of Gaodu began to appear, which was the Capital of the Jin Dynasty, and the three families of Zhao, Wei, and Han placed the Duke of Jinjing in the Duanshiyi of the Jin State (present-day Qinshui), and later moved the Duke of Jinjing to worship at Gaoduyi, and the last three families were divided into Jin, that is, here.

The division of the three families into Jin refers to the incident in which the Jin state was divided between the han, Zhao, and Wei families. From 633 BC, when The Jin Dynasty established the Six Secretaries of The Three Armies, the Six Secretaries have always held the military and political power of the Jin State. By the time of the Jin Dynasty, Han, Zhao, Wei, Zhi, Fan, and the six secretaries of the Zhonghang clan were tilting against each other. Later, after Zhao destroyed the Fan and Zhongxing clans, in 453 BC they united with Han, and Wei destroyed the Zhi clan, and the Jin state office survived in name only. In 403 BC, King Weilie of Zhou appointed Han Qian, Zhao Yuan, and Wei Si as princes. By 376 BC, Marquis Wu of Wei, Marquis Aihou of Han, and Marquis Jinghou of Zhao divided up the Jin Dynasty.

The historical origins of Gaodu can be traced back to the early 17th century BC. According to legend, as early as the late Xia Dynasty before the Shang Zhou in China, the King of Shang Tang forced the King of Xia to move from the original capital An Yi to Gaodu because of the Shang Tang King's cutting. It is said that at that time, King Jie and Concubine Aixi lived in a natural stone cave in the south of the village, and in ancient times, there was still a stone carving at the mouth of the cave that read, "The King of Xia Jie moved the capital". The area around the present-day Baofu Village and weeping thorn mountain was once the central area of the capital of the Xia Dynasty. Before the Spring and Autumn Period, it was called the Capital of Chui, and after the Warring States period, it was called Gaodu, and this name has continued to this day. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, archaeologists found a large number of stone axes, stone shovels, bone cones, pottery pieces and animal remains at the Gaodu site, which was confirmed to belong to the Yangshao cultural period, so it was designated as a provincial-level cultural relics key protection unit. It can be seen that the long history of Gaodu is not just a legend.
