Chen Huinan (1915-1985)

In 1921, at the age of 6, he was introduced by Han opera actor Liu Zhengwen to the Hankou Deming "Shun" character class to study Chinese opera.
In 1929, he studied Chu opera with Chen Mingyuan as a teacher. In the new market, new new, Deming, LingXiao, Meicheng and other theaters while learning and performing.
In 1934, he participated in the third phase of the Hankou Chu Opera Actor Training Class.
In 1937, he accompanied the drama class to perform at ChangdeChanghe Theater in Hunan Province.
In 1938, he accompanied Shen Yunshuo and others to participate in the "Second Team for Propaganda of Resisting the Enemy and Asking Questions" formed by Guo Moruo and Tian Han, and went to Chongqing, Luxian County, Neijiang and other places to perform charity performances and public performances.
In 1946, he returned to Han and participated in the performances of Meicheng, Shengli and Tianxian Theaters.
In 1951, he joined the Wuhan Chu Opera Troupe. He was the only bishop teacher to teach at the Zhongnan Xiqu School (1951-1953), the Wuhan Xiqu School (1953-1958) and the Hubei Provincial Xiqu School (1958-1966).
Because of his long artistic experience and extensive knowledge, he is a rare "full belly" master. He is not only familiar with Chu opera, but also introduces many Han opera "three lives" plays into Chu opera. He taught singing to pay attention to the roundness of the words, the steady eyes of the board, the precise movements of the body, and the special emphasis on the "spout" strength of the Daobai. Committed to changing the custom of Chu opera old students being concurrently performed by xiaosheng actors, and striving to summarize the performance norms of Chu opera old students, it has contributed to the establishment of the Chu opera old students' profession.
After retiring in the 1970s, his father Chen Huinan often told the anecdotes of the anti-Japanese propaganda performances with the Chu opera "Qingyi Second Team" in Sichuan during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and the most enjoyable thing was their basketball team.

In the early 1990s, when I went to the home of my father's friend Mr. Gao Shaolou and asked about the "Qingyi Second Team" and the "Basketball Team", Teacher Gao took a photo from the bottom of the box. I took a look and exclaimed:
"This is not a group photo left by the 'Qingyi Second Team' when they played in Sichuan!"
Suddenly, the story told by my father was activated by the faces that were both familiar and unfamiliar in the pictures. I am as precious as I am, and I marvel at its preciousness!

This year coincides with the 70th anniversary of the victory of the world's anti-fascism, and the author has collected and treasured several precious photos about the "Qingyi Second Team" and the team in Sichuan, so as to entertain the world.
According to the memories of my father and the seniors who participated in the "Qingyi Ii Team":
In 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out, and in August, the Hankou Opera Industry Fandom Field Service Troupe was established, and Chu opera artists participated in the Hankou Opera Industry Drama Workers Labor Army Performance Troupe, and participated in the National Theater Industry Labor Army Fundraising Joint Grand Performance.

In April of the following year, the Third Department of the Political Department of the Military Commission of the Nationalist Government was established in Hankou, with Guo Moruo as its director and Tian Han as its director and Tian Han as its director. Chu opera artists in Han all participated in the workshop for opera singers in Han during the war held in the three halls. After graduation, the "Qingyi Second Team" passed through Shashi and Yichang into Sichuan, and successively performed anti-Japanese propaganda performances in Chongqing Daliangzi "One Garden" Theater, Luzhou "Star Theater", Neijiang and other places.
In 1943, Gong Xiaolan wrote 15 episodes of the Liantai play "Yue Fei" in Chongqing. Guo Moruo signed the title of the play.
In addition to performing in Sichuan and other places that year, everyone often played basketball, in the "Qingyi Second Team" basketball team, the best ball played was Huang Jinzhong, because people looked darker, everyone called him "black toothpaste", he was the star player of the team, but he and Wu Kun were not actors of the "Qingyi Ii Team". They like Chu opera and love to play, so they blend in with the basketball players of the drama team.

In normal training, everyone communicates with each other and competes in their skills. Playing together for a long time, the passing and matching between the players will gradually play exquisitely and smoothly. Due to the addition of Huang Jinzhong and Wu Kun, the strength of the drama basketball team has been greatly enhanced, and the basketball team has also become a "constant victorious general" in the competitions with local industries and garrisons in Chongqing, Luzhou, Neijiang and other places.

When the "Qingyi Second Team" went to Luzhou to perform, Mr. Feng Yuxiang, a patriotic general, was running for the War of Resistance, calling on all walks of life in the local area to "have money to pay for it, make a strong contribution, unite as one, and fight the War to the end."
The basketball team participated in the "Anti-Japanese War to the End Charity Ball Competition Conference" initiated by General Feng Yuxiang in Luxian County, and Mr. Shen Yunxiao and Captain Wang Ruoyu led the cast and crew to the scene to cheer.
During the basketball game, General Feng presided over the kick-off. According to the old man's recollection, General Feng was tall and "stood together to be half the body of an ordinary person." In the game, the "Qingyi, Chu Xuan" basketball team defeated the Sichuan representative team in one fell swoop and won the first place. The Qingyi basketball team raised 200,000 yuan in the ball game activities, and the Chu opera charity performance raised 100,000 yuan, a total of 300,000 yuan, all donated to the War of Resistance.

When General Feng Yuxiang learned that the "Qingyi Second Team" was promoted from Hankou all the way to Sichuan to resist the enemy, he was very moved and praised the Chu opera artists for their patriotism. Later, the basketball team of the "Qingyi Second Team" also won the championship in the basketball game of the Neijiang Seasonal Games.
