However, at the beginning of this century, the occurrence of safety incidents of livestock products such as clenbuterol and melamine directly endangered the safety of livestock products and the health of the people.

  He was ordered to formulate melamine limit standards

  The establishment of melamine limit standards in feed is the basis and criterion for combating illegal additions. After the Sanlu milk powder incident in 2008, melamine became the culprit affecting the safety of milk products, but due to its unclear environmental background and unclear metabolic residues, it was impossible to crack down on illegal additions. At this very moment, Researcher Qin Yuchang was ordered to face difficulties in the face of danger, with a scientific and rigorous work attitude, a serious and responsible work style, and a strong sense of mission and urgency, presided over the formulation of melamine limits in feed. He quickly organized experts in animal nutrition, toxicology, detection and traceability technology and risk assessment and other related majors, set up a special working group, and organized the research team to analyze the feed raw materials and the background value of melamine in the environment after more than half a year of continuous struggle, revealed its metabolic residue law in animals such as cattle and sheep, established a melamine risk assessment method in feed based on "environmental migration - accumulation of livestock products - population exposure" as the core, and formulated the limit standard of melamine in feed for the first time in the world. This standard has been adopted by the Chinese government, the United Nations Codex Alimentarius Commission and the World Health Organization, which solves the regulatory problems of the coexistence of melamine environmental background and illegal addition in feed, plays a key role in timely control of the illegal addition of melamine in the production of livestock products, and lays a methodological basis for the risk assessment of illegal additives with environmental background.

  Overcome difficulties to create a hazardous substance detection technology system

  Crack the problem of both harmful factor reduction and nutrient fidelity

  Qin Yuchang's team of researchers started from the aspects of anti-nutrient reduction of feed raw materials, cross-pollution prevention and control in the production process, heat-sensitive nutrient fidelity, etc., systematically studied the content distribution of the main anti-nutrient substances in feed raw materials, and created the optimal pretreatment extrusion extrusion process technology for different raw materials differentiation, so that the content of major anti-nutrient substances such as trypsin inhibitors in soybeans and soy globulin, free cotton phenol in cottonseed meal, and thiosides in rapeseed meal was significantly reduced, breaking through the bottleneck of limited use of unconventional protein raw materials The study reveals the reduction law of harmful microorganisms such as mold and E. coli in the feed processing process, proposes the process technology of effectively killing harmful microorganisms, and leads the development of clean feed production technology in China; the study determines the upper limit of cross-contamination control of pharmaceutical additives, formulates the national standard of "Specification for Cross-contamination Prevention and Control of Feed Processing Equipment", and provides a comprehensive solution technical solution for the prevention and control of cross-contamination of feed products; systematically studies the loss rate of heat-sensitive substances such as vitamins and enzymes under different thermal processing conditions. Invented a new process for the production of livestock and poultry feed with high temperature tempering and maturation of powder, sterilization treatment, and then add heat-sensitive substances for low temperature granulation, realized the efficient synergy between harmful substance reduction and nutrient fidelity, cracked the technical problems that are difficult to balance high temperature sterilization and nutritional fidelity, built a comprehensive evaluation mode of feed processing technology parameters with pellet feed processing quality, feed nutritional value, and animal production performance as indicators, and established the optimal processing technology parameters for broilers, laying hens, weaned piglets, and growth and fattening pigs.
