Xiamen, 26 Jan (Xinhua) -- In 2021, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of yan Siqi, the "king of Taiwan", the history textbook of the junior high school compiled by the mainland includes the historical facts of Yan Siqi's leadership in developing Taiwan, which will be officially launched after the start of the school year in the spring of 2021.

Yan Siqi was born in Qingjiao Village, Haicheng County, Zhangzhou Province, Fujian Province (now part of Haicang District, Xiamen), and was the leader of a maritime group on the southeast coast during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli dynasty to the Apocalypse. He recruited the people of southern Fujian to reclaim Taiwan earlier, and led the people to cross the Taiwan Strait, so he was revered as the "King of Kaitai".

In the second volume of the seventh grade of the new edition of the history textbook approved by the Ministry of Education, a column entitled "Relevant Historical Events" has been added to the headbook "Consolidation and Development of a Unified Multi-Ethnic State," which introduces the historical facts of Yan Siqi's leadership in developing Taiwan.

For a long time, Yan Siqi has enjoyed a lofty position on both sides of the strait, especially in the non-governmental sector. There are still many commemorative sites on both sides of the strait where Yan Siqi opened the taiwan. Lin He'an, president of the Minnan Cultural Research Association in Haicang District, Xiamen, introduced that through the long-term research and examination of experts and scholars on both sides of the strait, many seminars have been held to make a complete demonstration of Yan Siqi's historical facts.

As the hometown of Yan Siqi, Xiamen City has been working with Taiwan compatriots for many years to commemorate Yan Siqi and carry out activities such as paying homage to Yan Siqi, reconstructing the Yan clan tree, and building Yan Siqi memorial facilities. In June 2019, Haicang Kaitai Cultural Park, the first Kaitai Cultural Park in mainland China with the theme of commemorating Yan Siqi, was officially opened in Qingjiao Village, Haicang District.
