After the national liberation war began, the heroic first field army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army followed the "order to march to the whole country" issued by Chairman Mao Zedong and Commander-in-Chief Zhu De, and successfully liberated Xi'an on May 20, 1949. After the liberation of Xi'an, Chiang Kai-shek was not content with defeat and urgently ordered Hu Zongnan, director of the Kuomintang Xi'an Appeasement Office, to join forces with Ma Bufang of Qinghai and Ma Hongkui of Ningxia in a vain attempt to jointly counterattack Xi'an and obstruct our westward advance. The vast area that covered the Sealand Highway in the north and the northern foothills of the Qinling Mountains in the south launched a general offensive against Hu Zongnan's main force. Fumei Battle Martyrs Cemetery
Located in Changxing Town, Mei County, Shaanxi Province, the Fumei Battle Martyrs' Cemetery was built in 1953 to commemorate the battle of Fumei, the largest battle in the northwest of the National Liberation War, and buried the loyal bones of 2,160 martyrs.
Under the care of governments and leaders at all levels, since the establishment of the park, the cemetery has carried out many maintenance and transformation of the road into the park, the memorial garden, the memorial pavilion, the memorial hall, the monument, the battle group sculpture, the martyr statue, and the martyrs' cemetery area. At present, the martyrs' tomb area is fan-shaped, and in the middle is the group of statues of the martyrs of the Battle of Fumei.
The martyrs' cemetery is built according to the mausoleum, walking into the cemetery, the towering monument is located in the center of the cemetery, the red five-pointed star shines in the sun, and the front of the monument is engraved with 9 characters of "Fumei Battle Martyrs Monument", and its monument is 19.49 meters high, implying the victory of the Battle of Fumei in 1949.

Cao Jie, a staff member of the office of the Fumei Battle Martyrs Cemetery Management Office, has been guarding the martyrs here for 5 years, and in his weekday work, he has directly contacted many families who came to the cemetery to look for martyrs. "My experience is that this is a kinship force that is thicker than water, prompting some martyrs' relatives to search hard. Therefore, although 70 years have passed since the Battle of Fumei, some family members are even separated by a generation or two, but they are still running around looking for it. ”
On the Qingming Festival in 2018, an elderly man with white hair came to the cemetery. Originally from Shanxi, he has been working and living in Baoji since he retired from the army. He said that he and his cousin participated in the revolution at the same time, and his cousin died in the Battle of Fumei. The old man provided his cousin's name and place of origin. At that time, the cemetery was inquired and did not find the information of the martyr. Later, after going through the archives and verifying with the relevant government departments of the martyr's place of origin, the cemetery confirmed that the martyr died in the Battle of Fumei. During subsequent repairs and renovations, a tombstone was built for the martyr as a memorial.
On this year's Qingming Festival, the old man took his family to the martyrs' cemetery again, and with the support of his children, stood in front of his cousin's tombstone, and the old man was full of tears. He said excitedly: "Although there are no remains, we feel that the heroic souls of the martyrs have finally had a home, and their relatives have a place to pay tribute." ”
