Mao Zemin, born in 1896, is a native of Shaoshan, Hunan. He joined the revolution in 1921 and joined the Communist Party of China. In February 1925, he accompanied his brother Mao Zedong to Xiangtan and Xiangxiang to carry out the peasant movement. In 1931, Mao Zemin became governor of the Provisional Central Government Bank of the Chinese Soviet Republic. In May 1933, Mao Zemin was also appointed Minister of Finance of the Soviet Government of Fujian Province.
In October 1934, the Red Army began the Long March, the Ministry of Finance of the Central Government of the Soviet Union and the State Bank formed the 15th Brigade, and Mao Zemin served as the commander of the 15th Brigade, which was then known as the "National Bank on the Flat Shoulders", and solved the arduous tasks of transportation, fighting local tycoons, raising grain and raising funds, and ensuring supply in the Long March.
After the outbreak of the National War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in February 1938, Mao Zemin, under the pseudonym Zhou Bin, went to Xinjiang to do united front work, and successively served as the director of the Xinjiang Provincial Department of Finance and the Department of Civil Affairs. On September 17, 1942, Mao Zemin was arrested by the reactionary warlord Sheng Shicai, and on September 27, 1943, he was secretly killed by the enemy at the age of 47.
