Little weasel: rabbit with long fangs"
Deer have horns on their heads and carnivores have canine teeth, which is the subjective impression of most people on these two types of animals. Unfortunately, such an impression stream is truly wrong. Not to mention that the biggest difference between carnivores and herbivores is whether there are cleft teeth (the last premolar of the upper jaw and the first molar of the lower jaw), that is, among deer, there are also many members with hornless heads and canine teeth that are unusually developed, and the small moose deer is one of them.
Small shrew (xi a sound) deer belongs to the even-hoofed shrew deer family, body length 43-50 cm; weight 2.5-4.5 kg, about the size of the rabbit, is the world's smallest deer, and sika deer, red deer and other large and medium-sized relatives (males) have beautiful forked horns on the head, small shrew deer whether female or male, the top of the head is bare, the mouth instead of two long and curved canine teeth, of which the male canine teeth are particularly developed, has grown into fangs, is the deer appeared earlier in the population, It has important scientific value for studying the origin of ruminants.
In addition to the yellow-white abdomen, the coat color of the rest of the deer is mainly reddish brown, and the three white bands under the throat form a shape similar to the English letter t at the jaw; mainly inhabit Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, The Great Sunda Islands and other Indochina regions, China's Yunnan Xishuangbanna also has a small distribution, tropical evergreen is their main place of activity, low branches and fruits are the main food sources; they can also squat on the ground like humans to rest.
Crocodile lizard: Has the smallest brain of a reptile
Crocodile lizard is a unique species in the Dayao Mountains region of Guangxi, China, from the name it is not difficult to see that this is a body of both crocodile and lizard dual characteristics of the animal, their head and torso are very similar to lizards, covered with thick black stripes and ridge-like scales of the flat tail, and crocodiles have some similarities, so the name.
Although crocodile lizards are relatively close to the combination of lizards and crocodiles in appearance, they are members of the actual lizard family, belonging to the earlier crocodile lizard family under the order of lizards, which have emerged as early as the age of dinosaurs about 200 million years ago, and because of their relatively old age, their brains are only the size of peanuts, the smallest of all reptiles.
Crocodile lizard body length of about 5 cm, but the tail is 20 cm; there is a small milky white dot in the center of the head, called the top eye, used to perceive light; the back is olive brown, with 6-7 dark horizontal stripes on it; the brownish red skin on the side of the body is inlaid with black stripes, and the yellowish belly has black short stripes; like to stay on the rocks or branches of the sunward pond, feeding on insects, small fish, grasshoppers, tadpoles and other small animals; usually walking step by step, extremely slow, but in case of emergencies, it will quickly escape.
Binturong: The tail can also catch things
61–97 cm long and weighing 9–20 kg, the binturong is the largest civet cat in the world, wearing long, messy black-gray hair that looks like a cub, and is found in the southernmost part of China, northeastern India, the eastern part of Bangladesh and Bhutan, as well as the islands of Indonesia and the Philippines, mainly inhabiting dense primary forests, as well as the staggered areas of arid forests and grasslands, feeding on various fruits and small animals, of which the banyan fruit is the favorite; living alone, usually foraging at night and at dusk, Usually rest in the trees.
The two most special places about binturongs are their tails and the genitals of females. The tail of the binturong has fluffy hair and varies from 50 to 84 cm in length, and this tail, which is almost the same length as the body, has the ability to wrap and can carry objects and act like a human hand; the female has clitoral bones, making them look like the males have the same reproductive organs, which is the same as the spotted hyena.
Due to habitat destruction and poacher killings, the population of binturongs in China has declined dramatically and is now critically endangered.
Goose-throated antelope: Antelope with a throat like a large goose
As the name suggests, the goose-throated antelope is an antelope with a throat like a large goose. The adult goose-throated antelope is 88–109 cm long and weighs 29–42 kg, making it a medium-sized antelope and the only species in the genus that has only male long horns.
The coat on the back of the thrush is brown, the buttocks and the inside of the limbs are white; the nodules at the front of the neck make their necks look very similar to the neck of the geese; some subspecies have deep lines on the faces; the grasslands and semi-desert areas of northern and northwestern China, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Arabia are their homesteads, living in small groups of no more than 12 on weekdays, feeding on weeds and trees, and in winter they form large groups of about 30 heads.
The thrush was once an important hunting animal historically (referring to animals that allowed legal hunting due to its large number), but due to problems such as uncontrolled hunting and habitat destruction, it is now an endangered species and has even disappeared in local areas.
Spotted turtle: There are only 4 left in the world
The spotted turtle (bie) is 2 meters long and weighs hundreds of kilograms, making it the largest turtle in the world, named after the spotted pattern all over its body. The dorsal carapace is flattened and smooth, predominantly olive green or black-green; the body is nearly round; it was once distributed in the Taihu Lake and Red River Basins.
Due to water pollution caused by human activities, reduced food, and wanton hunting, there are only 4 turtles left in the world today, and only 1 is a female, which is a critically endangered species on the endangered species list.
Unlike their close relatives, turtles only live in fresh water. The turtle relies on water waves to perceive its surroundings and feeds on fish and shrimp; has a strong sense of territory, allowing almost no of its kind to enter its territory except during the mating period; when the weather is too cold or too hot, it will hide in the mud and sand to sleep to preserve the energy in the body; usually in April and May of each year, the mating female will shovel eggs in the sand pit on the shore.
Great bustard: The bird with the largest gender gap
The great bustard (bao three sounds) is the world's largest male-female body size gap, the male is about 1 meter tall, 75-105 cm long, weighs up to 20-30 kg, and the wings are spread out more than 2 meters; in contrast, the female is less than half a meter tall and weighs less than 10 kg. Such a huge disparity in size has allowed people to think of them as two different birds for a long time, so that the folk have the saying that the great bustard is only female and must mate with other birds to breed offspring, and the great bustard has also borne a lascivious reputation.
Of course, this is just a rumor. The real-life female bustard is unusually picky about the opposite sex, carefully checking the other half of the cloaca for parasites before mating to determine the health of the other party. Therefore, in order to make the girl of his choice accept himself, the male bustard will deliberately eat some poison and kill the parasites in the body by attacking the poison.
The great bustard has a wide range in the world, southern Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan, as well as China's Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Northeast China, North China, the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River can be seen in their figures, inhabiting the open desert grasslands; the body resembles an ostrich, is one of the largest flying birds; has two thick and powerful legs, good at running; head and neck feathers are light gray, the chest, back to tail, the upper part of the sides of the body are light brown, covered with black broad stripes, looking like tiger skin, It is an excellent protective color, the rest of the body is grayish white, with a bunch of black feathers just below the abdomen; males have beards; they breed on the desert grasslands of northern China in summer; they overwinter south in autumn and winter; and the leaves of various small insects and plants are their staple food.
Although widely distributed, the overall population of the great bustard is very rare, there are currently less than 1,000 in China, and it has been listed in the Red Book of Endangered Animals in China, which is a national first-level protected animal.
