Located at No. 15-17 Changqing Road, Houlu Street, Datong Street, Tong'an District, Xiamen City, on the south side of the Hulushan Iron Slag Pile Site, it is the ancestral hall of the Chen clan of ancient Tong'an. The ancestor Chen Yong (also honored Chen Yong's father Chen Zhong as the ancestor of the Fujian Dynasty), was a jinshi in the first year of the Tang Dynasty (705), the official prince Taifu, because of his disagreement with the chancellor Li Linfu, who was sent to Fujian, first lived in Xinghua (Putian) Xianyou County Fengting Inoushang, and then entered the Quanzhou Hui'an Shetan, and later migrated to Zhangzhou Nanxiangshan Jianfudi, known as "Nanyuan". Chen Yongsheng had four sons and one daughter, the eldest son Yi Ze, the second son Yi Zhao, the female Jinhua County Lord, the third son Yi Xing, and the fourth son Yi Shi. In the second year of Tang Jianzhong (781), Yi Ze and his eldest son Li and their family of more than 300 people moved from Zhangzhou to Jiaheli (present-day Xiamen Island). In the first year of the Southern Song Dynasty (1260), Yuan Huchaohua, descendants of Sun Chen Wenlong, etc., were killed because they did not want to betray The Yuan, and Jiahe's ancestral residence was also burned by soldiers, and his descendants scattered and took refuge in Tong'an.

During the Ming Yongle period (1420-1424), the teachings and canons of the Jinshi were born to repair Chen Fushan, together with the clan relatives, to choose the southern foothills of Hulu Mountain in the northwest corner of the county town, spending 400 silver to buy land, and first built the "Tong'an Chen Taifu Ancestral Hall", which played the role of the Zhangzhou Branch, so it was also named "South Courtyard Chen Taifu Ancestral Hall", commonly known as "Branch". In the 27th year of Ming Jiajing (1548), chen Cangjiang, the chief of the Punishment Department and the Taishou of the Three Provinces, was expanded into a four-entry, three-bay building with a left wing and a wall. The ancestral hall has been more than 500 years old and has been repaired many times, among which In the eighteenth year of Qing Daoguang (1838), when Chen Huacheng was stationed in Xiamen as the admiral of the Fujian Water Division, he returned to his hometown to preside over a major repair. In the 20th year of the Republic of China (1931) and the 37th year of the Republic of China (1948), under the initiative of the ancestors Hu Dingsan, Chen Jiageng, Chen Yanxiang, Chen Ruilin, Chen Hengfu, Yao Shuineng, etc., they were rebuilt twice to maintain their original appearance. At present, there are Dejing Hall, Chen Huacheng Memorial Hall and Chen Jiageng Memorial Hall in the Chen Taifu Ancestral Hall.

The ancestral hall sits north and faces south, with a total area of 941 square meters and a construction area of 600 square meters. It is composed of a three-entry building of courtyard gate and entrance hall, main hall and back hall, and a new two-story Shizai house is built on the east side, and a traditional brick and stone wooden structure in southern Fujian is a three-entry corridor courtyard building. The courtyard door hangs a stone plaque of "Chen Taifu Ancestral Hall in the South Courtyard" (inscribed by Chen Cangjiang), the entrance hall is flat open three doors, the beam-type beam frame, the middle archway roof, the three-section ridge; the main hall is 3 wide, 3 deep, the beam-type beam frame, the hard mountain top, the swallowtail ridge; the back hall is the "Dejing Hall" special ancestral hall, the statue of Emperor Shun, Han Chen Pujing, and Tang Chen Yuanguang, the distant ancestors of the Chen clan; the second-floor guard building on the east side, the upper floor is set up as chen Huacheng and Chen Jiageng exhibition room. The shape of this building ancestral hall has a special nature, a grand scale, a long history, and retains more exquisite stone cultural relics components, and is related to the anti-British national hero Chen Huacheng, which has a high historical and cultural relics value. In 2007, it was listed in the second batch of Taiwan-related cultural relics and monuments in Xiamen, and was protected by a monument.

The Taifu Ancestral Hall has two ancestral ceremonies every year (Chen Yuanguang on the 16th day of the 16th month of the lunar calendar and Chen Yong on the 14th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar), and 62 ancestral halls of the Various Branches of the Chen Clan (including Tong'an, Xiang'an, Jimei, Guankou and Kinmen) are participated, and the clan population with contacts reaches 40,000 people. Overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese from ancient Tong'an, Taiwan compatriots and descendants of Chen surnames from other provinces and cities often come to the ancestral hall to pay homage to their ancestors or to find their roots.
