Lei Jian is a native of Chengdu, aged 14 in 1969, and studied at Chengdu 14th Middle School. In his memory, because the National Day in 1968 did not hold an event, and 1969 coincided with the important time node of the 20th anniversary of the founding of New China, the parade that year was particularly solemn. The fourteenth middle school where Lei Jian studied was one of the student teams in the parade, and according to his recollection, the student teams were also composed of Shishi Middle School and Chengdu No. 19 Middle School. There were two or three hundred people in the fourteen where Guang Lei Jian was located, directly forming an independent square team.

Chengdu No. 14 Middle School is located at No. 43 Shuhua Street, on the west side of People's Park, and has now been renamed Shishi lianzhong Shuhua Branch. Lei Jian recalled that his class was the smallest class in the school, and almost all the students in the class participated. "Because it is a 20th anniversary, and the Viva Exhibition Hall has just been repaired, everyone is more excited and fresh." Lei Jian still remembers that the night before the National Day parade, at 12:00 a.m., everyone was notified to gather in the school square, uniformly wearing white shirts and dark pants, and walking to the Nine Eyes Bridge to queue up first.

"At that time, it was no better than now, there was no food or water, and I was not allowed to take my own bags, but only Chairman Mao's quotations." Lei Jian also remembered that their school party was at the back of the comparison, and when it was their turn to cross Tianfu Square, they had waited all night, and people had begun to get sleepy. However, when it came time to shout slogans, everyone was still full of energy and vitality. In front of the Fourteenth Middle School, there are the square teams of various factories and communes, some holding signs, some raising flags, and some floating teams.

Now, 52 years later, the National Day parade of that year is still fresh in Lei Jian's memory.
