Cui Wenlian, deputy director of the Qingdao Monitoring Center, told reporters: "According to the characteristics of Qingdao's coastal waters and the needs of marine biodiversity environmental protection, we have laid out monitoring points in the city's main sea areas and 4 important intertidal areas, and regularly carry out special monitoring of marine plankton, benthic organisms and intertidal organisms every year." Take the biodiversity monitoring of Jiaozhou Bay in Qingdao as an example: during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, more than 160 species of marine phytoplankton were detected in the Jiaozhou Bay area, of which the main species were diatom phylum, and the dominant species mainly included algae, bone stripe algae, round sieve algae, etc. There are more than 100 species of large marine zooplankton, mainly planktonic larvae, jellyfish and copepods, and the dominant species mainly include strong arrowworms, true prickly lip fleas, and short-tailed flea larvae. There are more than 230 species of benthic organisms, of which the main species are link animal phylum, arthropod phylum and mollusk phylum, and the dominant species are mainly sand silkworms, heteromorphic worms, And filipino clams. The monitoring data shows that in recent years, the level of biodiversity in the waters of Jiaozhou Bay has increased significantly, the community structure has improved, and the quality of habitats has steadily improved.

Zhang Xiaohong, engineer of Qingdao Monitoring Center, said: "In recent years, Qingdao Monitoring Center has comprehensively done a good job in the analysis and research of the diversity of marine species with local characteristics, successively organized a special survey based on the biological quality and marine sediments of Jiaozhou Bay, selected 3 shellfish species such as clams in Qingdao sea area to carry out pollutant residue status investigation, and interpreted the environmental quality status of sediments through 11 monitoring indicators, and used environmental DNA macro barcoding technology to study the diversity of phytoplankton communities in Jiaozhou Bay. Subcellular structure analysis and identification of some tropical northward migrating plankton species were carried out by scanning electron microscopy technology, and the law of marine indicator species responding to climate change was scientifically analyzed, providing technical support for the protection of marine biodiversity. ”
