At the meeting, Wang Yulin, vice president of the Xinjiang Dairy Association, said that the dairy industry has only started in Xinjiang in the past 5 years, and there are insufficient processing advantages, insufficient supply of capital chain, and insufficient publicity in the market. Regional governments in some camel farming areas in Xinjiang provide active support policies for the development of camel milk industry and encourage the development of dairy enterprises in the local area.
It is understood that at present, there are 160,000 peaks of camels in Xinjiang, and milk camels account for 1/4 of the total inventory, and the average daily milk production of one peak of milk camels is about 3 kg, and the annual output is about 800 kg to 1 ton.
Song Kungang, director of the China Dairy Industry Association, believes that camel milk belongs to special milk, with small output and regional consumption. In North Africa, the Middle East, India, and Pakistan, consumers are very familiar with camel milk, and local residents believe that camel milk is the most valuable food resource for nomadic peoples in arid and semi-arid areas.
Wang Yulin introduced that in 2005, the International Food and Agriculture Organization survey showed that the demand for camel milk in the international market is very large, there are about 200 million potential consumers in the Middle East alone, and the potential market value of camel milk in the whole world is about 10 billion US dollars.
"At present, Xinjiang is in a leading position in the camel milk processing industry and started early; in addition, the regulations of the national market supervision department on the construction of factories in the milk source area also mean that camel milk products enterprises are basically concentrated in Xinjiang." Wang Yulin further said.
Shi Gang, general manager of Xinjiang Tianniu Dairy Co., Ltd., said that camel milk enterprises represented by Tianniu Dairy have obtained the qualification of enterprises producing camel milk products, and will take camel milk products out of Xinjiang with a positive attitude and go to the whole country and even the world.
Finally, Wang Yulin also mentioned that in the future, the Xinjiang Dairy Association will further play the role of the organization as a bridge and link to promote camel breeding and camel milk industry to become bigger and stronger. (Li Nan)
