The 2021 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival Sports Series Theme Event - "Battle Fun Baoshan" Champion Face-to-Face Shooting Championship Forum was recently held in Gucun Park. Shooting Olympic champion Tao Luna came face to face with the public and shared her journey from shooting to growing into an Olympic champion. As a professional scientific fitness guidance service, "Champion Face-to-Face" guides more citizens to actively participate in sports with its star effect, and at the same time expands the categories of mass sports projects to achieve the coordinated development of national fitness driven by competitive sports.

Q: How did you get involved with shooting?

Tao Luna: I accompanied the table to participate in the shooting interest group of the school club, and I did not expect to have a relationship with the sport. When I was in junior high school, I participated in the school shooting interest group, standing on the roof of the school every day, holding a 60 yuan domestic "gun" and constantly practicing aiming and shooting. After winning the Shanghai Grassroots Shooting Championship for two consecutive years, I was fortunate to be favored by professional teams, and then successively entered the Shanghai team and national team, starting my professional sports career.

Q: What are some memorable things in your sporting career?

Tao Luna: Looking back on the past, it is always full of mixed feelings. I started out very smoothly, got into the national team, and soon won the World Cup finals in 1997 and 1998. But shooting is like this, a little psychological fluctuation will make athletes "lose a millimeter, fallacy" on the field. I'm no exception. After winning consecutively, several defeats were waited for. In 1998, a crucial year for the Olympic Games, I stood on the world championships, very nervous, I didn't hear anything during the competition, only heard my heart beating strongly, causing my performance to fall out of the top eight. In the same year, at the 13th Asian Games in Bangkok, I participated as a main player, and there were only 5 minutes left to shoot the last 5 bullets, only to hear the head coach shouting: "Tao Luna, you must buckle me out." "However, in those 5 minutes, I felt that the little trigger seemed to weigh a thousand pounds, and my arm did not listen to the call, how to buckle it, and finally did not qualify for the final."

Q: So how did you adjust your mindset, get out of the trough, and create a good result of winning the Olympic championship later?

Tao Luna: I didn't give up on myself, I consulted coaches, doctors, experts. When I am alone, I will find out what I am most afraid of in my heart, what is the most difficult to overcome, and then try to adapt. It's like the first time I eat bitter melon, I feel very bitter, but if I try to eat it all the time, I will feel that I can bear this kind of suffering. At the Sydney Olympics, I didn't think about whether I could win the gold medal or not, and my mind was calm. Before the game, I recorded the lessons given to us by the psychology teacher and listened to them every night before going to bed for two consecutive months.

On the day of the competition, there was a small episode. Each participating athlete has a badge on his body, and before the game, coaches from various countries agreed that this badge could be used to block the right side of the screen, so as to dilute their ring score and avoid affecting the play. When I blocked the screen with my badge, a referee came up and said it wasn't allowed. I removed my badge and dimmed the screen contrast. The referee came again and didn't leave until he had turned the screen back on. In the end, I could only turn the screen 45 degrees, and the referee came over for the third time and took the yellow card straight out of his pocket. I was very nervous and scared, but I remembered listening to the words of the psychology teacher for two months, adjusted my mentality, focused on the competition, and finally won the gold medal at the Sydney Olympic Games.

Q: After retiring, what was the impact of shooting in your transition from player to manager?

Tao Luna: Although my identity has changed, my pursuit will never change. Competitive sports bring me the Olympic spirit and sportsmanship. Athletes accompany athletes all year round are the ivory tower of the sports field, and when they first arrive in management positions, they will inevitably encounter many problems. But maybe I've lost too many times in the past, so I can face the difficulties from the bottom of my heart, not afraid, not to escape. It is the sportsmanship of healthy upward and unremitting struggle that allows me to adapt quickly, make continuous progress and achieve results in my new position.

Q: As an amateur, how can you get involved in shooting?

Tao Luna: In fact, shooting sports are not only professional competitive shooting. Whether it is the hot cs and cf in the past, or the "eating chicken" that young people like to play the most, it is actually the embodiment of shooting in the field of e-sports. The huge player base proves that the popularity of shooting sports is very promising.
