The police investigation found that a number of criminal gangs led by Li Moumou and others purchased a large number of raw materials for counterfeit brand mooncakes, processed and packaged them into finished product sets, recruited the next family through the e-commerce platform, and then relied on express logistics channels to sell for illegal benefits.

The Provincial Public Security Department attaches great importance to this case and organizes the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Organ to set up a special case team to carry out investigation and handling work. The police officer handling the case told reporters that the counterfeit mooncakes seized by the police are mainly Cantonese-style mooncakes, mainly involving quicksand, egg yolks and other flavors that Cantonese people like, and counterfeit brands are mainly some well-known mooncake brands in Hong Kong that are more popular in Guangdong and more popular in Guangdong.

In terms of price, the sales price of these counterfeit mooncakes is about 1/3 of the genuine one. According to the police handling the case, the criminal gang mainly uses the online e-commerce platform to attract those customers who need wholesale.

In terms of sales, there are individual wholesale customers who may give away the purchased mooncakes as gifts in a private manner. At present, the police investigation has not found that these mooncakes have flowed into regular stores or large markets.

Are these fake mooncakes safe? According to the police, the production environment of these mooncakes is relatively poor, the health environment is relatively bad, and there is no strict food safety control of the mooncakes like regular manufacturers, and consumers are prone to food safety hazards after purchasing and eating.
