After graduating from high school, Zhu Beiwei went to the countryside to work as a farmer for three years, doing farm work during the day, lighting lamps and reading at night, and the villagers used kangtou to dry the sweat on her cotton clothes and held hot corn flour cakes, and the hard rural life cultivated her deep feelings with farmers. "When I was admitted to Dalian Light Industry College (the predecessor of Dalian Polytechnic University) in 1977, my biggest wish in my heart was to really do something for farmers in the future." During her college studies, Zhu Beiwei was fascinated and gradually strengthened her mission in her heart. "The predecessors of China's food discipline have made indelible contributions to the motherland, and I want to pass on this patriotic spirit." After graduating from school, Zhu Beiwei's career dream was fulfilled, "How glorious it is to be a good teacher!" In order to give a good lecture, she put a blackboard at home, and she would pre-lecture the whole class before the lecture. After being elected as an academician, Zhu Beiwei still educated people. Once, Zhu Beiwei took students to the field for more than twenty days of internship, and her cough was very serious every day, but she did not delay a day, and when she came back, the examination had developed into tuberculosis.
In addition to teaching, Zhu Beiwei always thought of doing something practical for the peasants. On weekends, she would go down to the workshop and bring back to the lab the practical problems of earthy smell and fishy smell. After overcoming all kinds of unimaginable hardships, she witnessed with practical actions that "science and technology is the first productive force". From the initial "grain orange suspension fruit beverage production technology" and "peptide nutrition soy milk", to the breakthrough of the sea cucumber autolysis problem, it has greatly promoted the efficiency of fisheries, increased the income of fishermen, and then promoted the transformation of the shellfish processing industry to the direction of deep processing, and established key technologies to solve the common problems of other bulk aquatic products processing, and comprehensively promoted the development of the entire marine food processing industry. Today, Zhu Beiwei leads the engineering center team to face the four major sea areas of China, focusing on deep and shallow seas, far seas and offshore seas, seawater and fresh water, establishing 17 industrialization bases, 300 service enterprises, and continuing to strive for the goal of "deep ploughing the blue ocean and innovating the development of the food industry".
