The Predator still continues the classic dirty braids and square teeth in the latest edition.

Directed by Iron Man 3 director Sean Black, the new 2018 edition of Predator is about to be released on October 28, and Black, who played the first victim in the 1987 version of Predator, said that he returned to the series after 30 years, saying that nostalgia and passion are there, "I miss this adventure immensely now and I am eager to experience it all again." Although there are no famous characters in the latest version, everyone knows that the soul of this film will always be the monster that takes pleasure in hunting, and the film will once again stage a bloody slaughter and a bare-handed duel.

In the "Predator Universe" series of IP films, the latest version as the sixth, at the time of filming coincided with the 30th anniversary of the release of the classic old version of "Predator", here to review the creation of "Predator" in 1987 when shooting "Predator", it is also a solemn tribute to this famous cult film.

The idea for the script came from Stallone going to fight aliens

The original idea for the Predator series came from the screenwriter brothers Jim Thomas and John Thomas, who wrote a screenplay called The Hunter. The fictional "hunting" story in the script stems from a joke the brothers once heard: the new "Rocky" series starring Stallone may be about the confrontation between Rocky and aliens played by Stallone. So the two brothers translated this idea into a script, but in the script, humans did not have the upper hand, but the alien creatures regarded humans as the best prey and launched a hunting game.

The brothers had clever ideas and good luck that they were eventually able to meet with the top brass of Twentieth Century Fox, and the script appeared on the table of producer John Davis. Davis recalled: "I was a top executive at 20th Century Fox. We all read the script. The story is amazing. Davis took the script to a friend of his name, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had already finished filming "Terminator" and "Dragon Pond Alone" at that time, and his acting career was in a state of prosperity. Davis encouraged Schwarzenegger to finish reading the script, and the latter loved the story. Davis revealed: "I left Twentieth Century Fox and became a producer. Arnold said to me, 'Why don't you invest in this film yourself?' You can develop the story yourself. ’”

Twentieth Century Fox agreed to make the film, and Davis also began preparations, bringing in newcomer director John McDinan, who had just made his debut, and a group of tough actors. The cast who joined Schwarzenegger included Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, Sony Ranham, Jesse Ventura and a young man who became famous as a writer for Lethal Weapon but wanted to act: Shane Black. They initially thought it was a military-themed film about the rescue of hostages.

Styling Originally intended to have Shange Winton play the Predator

The filming of Predator has also become a legend, and there are also some stories that fans talk about, such as the gym built in the hotel banquet hall, muscle and wrist wrestling competitions, and various challenges encountered during filming. Davis recalled, "We shot this film in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We stayed at the Camino Real and it was a really great resort. During the shoot, we drove 20 to 30 minutes into the jungle. From time to time, the crew had symptoms of dysentery, and we smoked a lot of cigars. "In addition to the problems caused by the dense jungle of the filming location and the health of the crew, there was another major obstacle in the filming process. Davis said: "We didn't finish the film. We only spent two-thirds of the shots. We showed the finished demo to the head of the studio, and he was taken aback: 'I only saw two-thirds of the movies!' All we could say was, 'Yeah, we don't have the money to shoot anymore.' And he told us, 'You go back and finish this movie.' ’”

Another challenge with the film is finding the right monster. There have been countless versions of the Predator style that have been proposed and rejected, and even during filming, the creators planned to let the then popular action star Shange Winton play the Predator, but this plan was abandoned for many reasons. Over the weekend, special effects specialist Stan Winston and his team created a classic alien creature that is still beloved today, when stuntman Kevin Peter Hall gave the role the necessary energy and oppression. The original Predator eventually became a thrilling, chasing movie with a lot of wonderful action scenes, many wonderful shots deeply rooted in people's memories, and the film also played a shrewd trick: let the monster remain hidden behind the scenes, until the end of the film, the real body, and the character played by Schwarzenegger staged the ultimate duel.

The original Predator was a huge success, and not just at the box office. The film was a fan favorite for a long time after that, and Davis said: "This film has become a very successful, very classic cult film. There have always been many fans around the world watching this movie. I've always received checks for dividends, so I know everyone is watching this movie. Fred Decker, the screenwriter who co-authored the script for the new 2018 Predator film with Shane Black, revealed that he had already heard of Blake's name when he starred in the original Predator movie, and joining the new Predator project also had a great attraction for him: "For me, the success of this film comes down to its unique characteristics. For example, Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' or Ridley Scott's Alien have something very special and unique that, for whatever reason, suddenly jumps into your head... Quentin Tarantino also has this characteristic, and his works have vulgar storylines and a lot of self-referential content. The same is true of Predator, which has more important characteristics than stories and characters. ”

Ferocious Shangwu has successively dueled with Governor Arnold and aliens

Released in 1987, the sci-fi action cult films "Predator" and "First Blood", "Die Hard", "Lethal Weapon" and so on are the most popular hardcore action movies of the 80s, they were born in the era of Ronald Reagan, a big star and macho, and the fan subcultural influence derived from these films is still deeply rooted today. Although "Predator" was not filmed for the purpose of classic science fiction from the beginning, in every decade after the 80s, fans have seen the producers try to regain the spirit of the "cult" through sequels of different styles, and at the same time, the series's soul "Predator" style and human setting also seem to follow the ferocious and martial, but stick to the rules of a one-sided setting, and this "hard" character has made the original cold-blooded Predator have a "cult" temperature. The first half of "Predator" is a squad in the tropical jungle to launch a rescue operation, the opponent is a guerrilla, the film has an eye, it can be seen as a tribute to "First Blood", and even can see the irony of the Vietnam War and the tropical jungle in American culture at that time; the second half is a sudden change in style, a fierce monster from the alien and invisible "Predator" began to slaughter the squad members with the most primitive iron-blooded means. In a variety of skinned corpses, animal skulls, plasma and mud mixtures, coupled with a highly ritualistic self-mutilation, the final showdown between Drach and the Predator played by Schwarzenegger is ushered in.

Predator Setting: The Predator who originally had the upper hand in high-tech weapons at the end of the film chose to fade his equipment out of respect for the blood courage and bones, and together with Schwarzenegger, he used the most primitive, most male, and most "Zhangche-style" shirtless duel, thus laying the foundation for the series of "shirtless duels".
