The New Predator

The idea for the script came from Stallone going to fight aliens
The original idea for the Predator series came from the screenwriter brothers Jim Thomas and John Thomas, who wrote a screenplay called The Hunter. The fictional "hunting" story in the script stems from a joke the brothers once heard: the new "Rocky" series starring Stallone may be about the confrontation between Rocky and aliens played by Stallone. So the two brothers translated this idea into a script, but in the script, humans did not have the upper hand, but the alien creatures regarded humans as the best prey and launched a hunting game.
The brothers had clever ideas and good luck that they were eventually able to meet with the top brass of Twentieth Century Fox, and the script appeared on the table of producer John Davis. Davis recalled: "I was a top executive at 20th Century Fox. We all read the script. The story is amazing. Davis took the script to a friend of his name, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had already finished filming "Terminator" and "Dragon Pond Alone" at that time, and his acting career was in a state of prosperity. Davis encouraged Schwarzenegger to finish reading the script, and the latter loved the story. Davis revealed: "I left Twentieth Century Fox and became a producer. Arnold said to me, 'Why don't you invest in this film yourself?' You can develop the story yourself. ’”
Twentieth Century Fox agreed to make the film, and Davis also began preparations, bringing in newcomer director John McDinan, who had just made his debut, and a group of tough actors. The cast who joined Schwarzenegger included Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, Sony Ranham, Jesse Ventura and a young man who became famous as a writer for Lethal Weapon but wanted to act: Shane Black. They initially thought it was a military-themed film about the rescue of hostages.

Davis recalled, "We shot this film in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We stayed at the Camino Real and it was a really great resort. During the shoot, we drove 20 to 30 minutes into the jungle. From time to time, the crew had symptoms of dysentery, and we smoked a lot of cigars. "In addition to the problems caused by the dense jungle of the filming location and the health of the crew, there was another major obstacle in the filming process. Davis said: "We didn't finish the film. We only spent two-thirds of the shots. We showed the finished demo to the head of the studio, and he was taken aback: 'I only saw two-thirds of the movies!' All we could say was, 'Yeah, we don't have the money to shoot anymore.' And he told us, 'You go back and finish this movie.' ’”
Another challenge with the film is finding the right monster. There have been countless versions of the Predator style that have been proposed and rejected, and even during filming, the creators planned to let the then popular action star Shange Winton play the Predator, but this plan was abandoned for many reasons. Over the weekend, special effects specialist Stan Winston and his team created a classic alien creature that is still beloved today, when stuntman Kevin Peter Hall gave the role the necessary energy and oppression. The original Predator eventually became a thrilling, chasing movie with a lot of wonderful action scenes, many wonderful shots deeply rooted in people's memories, and the film also played a shrewd trick: let the monster remain hidden behind the scenes, until the end of the film, the real body, and the character played by Schwarzenegger staged the ultimate duel.
