
On the afternoon of May 15, researchers from Fujian Longqi Mountain National Nature Reserve found a large and beautiful butterfly on a cluster of honeysuckle bushes during daily field monitoring. In order to make a good record, immediately shoot with a telephoto camera, through comparison of the atlas and consulting experts, it was determined that this butterfly species is a female golden phoenix butterfly, which belongs to the rare and rare largest butterfly species in China, and is a new record species in Longqi Mountain Conservation Area. This species belongs to the internationally protected butterfly species, because of its large size and the golden hindwings that can reflect the sun, it is recognized internationally as one of the most ornamental butterfly species in the world.
Golden Butterfly
The golden butterfly (scientific name: troides aeacus) is a large butterfly in the genus Hydrangea in the family Pterophoridae , with a total of 5 subspecies. The butterfly has a graceful posture when flying, and the markings of the forewings are black, and the golden yellow and black of the hindwings are brilliant in the sunlight, which looks luxurious and beautiful. The larvae host are a variety of aristolochia plants, feed on the leaves of aristolochia plants, adults visit flowers, like to glide and fly, relatively slow. Although the butterfly is widely distributed, it is relatively rare and uncommon. Because of its large size and beauty, this butterfly is often captured and collected as a handicraft, and was once overused to reduce its number. The golden butterfly is currently listed as a protected species in Appendix II of cites of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and has also been listed in the List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection by the State Forestry Administration of China.
