"Chinese Celebrities" Qing. Lee Sun-lan

Li Shanlan (January 22, 1811 – December 9, 1882), originally known as Li Xinlan (李心蘭), courtesy name Jingfang ,Qiu Shu (秋纫), nicknamed Uncle Nong, was a native of Haining, Zhejiang. Famous mathematicians, astronomers, mechanics and botanists in modern China. There are four main achievements: one is to create a power series expansion formula for quadratic square roots, and to study the power series expansion formulas of various trigonometric functions, inverse trigonometric functions and logarithmic functions (now known as the "natural number power summation formula"), which is the most important achievement of Li Shanlan and the Chinese mathematical community in the 19th century; the second is to achieve great achievements in three aspects: tip cone, stacking, and prime number theory. The third is to cultivate a large number of mathematical talents and be the originator of modern mathematics education in China; the fourth is to compile and complete China's first book introducing modern Western plant science, "Botany".
