The Shanghai Opera House recently released a repertoire for 2019, with the opera "Tian Han" written by Sheng Heyu among the three new original plays. Screenwriter Sheng Heyu said that Tian Han, as a well-known figure in Chinese, is a great dramatist who has repeatedly expressed literary and artistic works, and through opera, in addition to expressing his rich experience and outstanding creation, he also hopes to present a different Tian Han to the world by showing his distinct personality and romantic love story.

"Li Zhen's Return to Hometown" is a milestone work of Xiang opera modern drama, which was pushed onto the stage by Hunan Xiang Theater in 2009, and won the "Tian Han Award" of the Provincial Arts Festival and the "Five One Project Award" of Spiritual Civilization in that year, in 2011 it was honored with the "Top Ten Fine Plays" of the National Stage Art Fine Project in 2009-2010, and in 2012 it won the "Five Ones" Excellent Works Award of the Central Propaganda Department, which opened the road to the strong rise of Hunan drama in the new century.
As a native of Changde, Hunan, Sheng Heyu's love for his hometown, his respect for tradition, and his pursuit of classics have always deeply influenced his screenwriting process in the past four decades.

After graduating from high school in 1968, as the "third oldest" Zhiqing, Sheng He Yu settled in the Cili Mountains in northwest Hunan and worked as a farmer for seven years.
In 1978, Sheng Heyu was transferred to the Changde Regional Creative Group (later known as Changde Drama Studio, the predecessor of the Changde Art Research Institute), giving full play to his talents and participating in the screenwriting of plays.
Around 1986, Sheng Heyu was transferred to the Hunan Xiang Theater, and his screenwriting career began to shine.
In 1988, he created the then-sensational Xiang opera "Mountain Ghost". This Xiang opera, which explored Qu Yuan's individual life, immediately caused a great controversy throughout the country after it was performed in the Xiang Theater, and even had a great response in the world.
In 1999, Sheng Heyu ushered in a work of "Sealing the Gods of the First World War" - "Towards the Republic". To this day, it still ranks first in the score of national dramas with a high score of 9.7 points on Douban.
