On the 22nd, on the occasion of the International Day of Biodiversity, the Kunming Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chongqing University Press jointly released the "Chinese Dragonfly Atlas" in Kunming. The book is the world's largest dragonfly monograph, and it is also the largest number of species in the global dragonfly literature.

Dragonflies are well-known insects, with more than 5,000 known species of dragonflies worldwide. China is an important dragonfly resource country in the world, and has discovered more than 980 species, which is the highest in the world, of which a large number of endemic and endangered species have high conservation value.

The Great Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Dragonflies is divided into two volumes, totaling 1460 pages, arranged in Chinese and English. The content includes two parts: "Overview of Dragonflies" and "Atlas of Chinese Dragonflies", covering the morphology, biology and taxonomy of dragonflies, and is a systematic summary of Dragonflies in China.

The book includes a total of 820 species in 175 genera of 3 suborders and 23 families of Chinese dragonflies, accounting for 83.42% of the total number of known dragonflies in China. Among them, there are 293 species in 65 genera and 13 families of the suborder Lepidoptera, 3 species in 1 genera of 1 family of the order Meptera, and 524 species in 106 genera of 8 families of the order Heteroptera.

It is worth mentioning that the "Chinese Dragonfly Catalogue" contains a new and most comprehensive list of Chinese dragonflies, which is determined by a number of international dragonfly experts, including a total of 983 species of Chinese dragonflies and their different names, which is a comprehensive summary of Chinese dragonflies.

In addition, the "Chinese Dragonfly Picture Book" selects more than 3500 color pictures, showing the charming and gorgeous primary color ecology of dragonflies from the best angle, and the ecological images of many rare species are first published through this book.

On the same day, in order to cooperate with the release of the "Chinese Dragonfly Catalogue", the Kunming Zoological Museum of the Chinese Academy of Sciences also held a dragonfly photo exhibition on the spot, displaying rare dragonfly images such as brown green dragonflies and transparent single-veined dragonflies.
