Zheng Lili, deputy to the Rizhao Municipal People's Congress: Strengthen the socialized care of the elderly with dementia and disability

"The acceleration of an aging society has made old-age services more and more the focus of social attention. How to prevent the elderly with disability and dementia, how to provide for the elderly, which not only plagues many families, but also is a social problem that needs to be faced up to urgently. Among these elderly people, the nursing problem of the elderly with disability and dementia has become the "most painful" point in the elderly care service. On January 10, Zheng Lili, a deputy to the Rizhao Municipal People's Congress, said in an interview with a reporter from Qilu Evening News.

Zheng Lili, deputy to the Rizhao Municipal People's Congress: Strengthen the socialized care of the elderly with dementia and disability

Zheng Lili told reporters that at present, there are many families in a dilemma: children are still at work, the elderly need to be accompanied by around the clock when they are sick, and it is difficult to coordinate work and family... Heavy family burdens, high pressure on children, and lack of professional nursing staff have become the norm in these families. And these elderly people, especially the rural elderly with almost no income, almost without exception end up in the dilemma of "dementia, disability and love loss".

Zheng Lili said that the elderly with dementia and disability need special care, and in the face of such elderly people, caregivers are often exhausted. For the elderly with dementia, they lack the law of life and behavioral control, and need 24-hour nursing, otherwise there will be danger and cannot be controlled; for the disabled elderly, they must wait to eat and drink Lasa every day, which belongs to the tube. Elderly people with dementia are often difficult to care for at home, and the demand for admission to elderly care facilities is higher. Now there are very few places that can receive elderly people with disabilities and dementia. Special nursing requirements also make it almost impossible for rural disabled and dementia elderly people with no income to be admitted to the hospital for the elderly because of high nursing fees.

This time, as a member of the people's congress of Rizhao City, Zheng Lili put forward suggestions on the pension dilemma of the elderly with dementia and disability. She said that we should explore more substantive support for families with disability and dementia, including medical and nursing support, economic support, and social support, and use social assistance, social welfare, social insurance and other means to establish a security system for the disabled and dementia elderly, so that many families with disabled and dementia elderly families can see new hope.
