Even if you can't be far away, the soul is on the road.
There is such a province in China's Great Northwest Region, which has a history of thousands of years, as an important transportation route between the Central Plains and the vast land of Xinjiang, and has important and far-reaching political, economic and military significance for the central government to manage the Xinjiang region for thousands of years, and this region is Gansu. Perhaps because of the influence of many ancient poems and literary works on people's preconceived ideas, gansu is surrounded by the Huangsha Gobi in most people's minds, and the living environment is difficult. Although the overall climate environment and most of the Central Plains are quite different, with the progress of economy and society, people's living standards have also changed dramatically compared with before.

Today's Gansu not only plays an important social function because of its unique bridging role between the Central Plains and Xinjiang, but also has an extremely deep cultural atmosphere in the local area due to the civilization history accumulated over thousands of years. When traveling to Gansu, in addition to enjoying the magnificent scenery of the Yellow River in Lanzhou and tasting a bowl of authentic beef noodles, many people will choose one to go to a county-level city that is famous all over the world. This city named after the local scenic spot has a splendid heritage known at home and abroad, and is recognized by the world as the "Pearl of the Silk Road", which is Dunhuang City.
Dunhuang is located in the northwest region of Gansu, where the three provinces of Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang meet. As a county-level city managed by Jiuquan, Dunhuang has nothing outstanding in terms of social economy, with a population of less than 200,000 and a GDP figure of just over 8 billion, which is very different from most counties and cities in the central and eastern regions. The reason why it is so famous today, known as an "ace city" in Gansu Province, has an important relationship with the cultural heritage it contains.
When they came to Dunhuang, people's thoughts were immediately pulled back to more than 2,000 years ago. After the Han Dynasty successfully defeated the Xiongnu and opened the Silk Road connecting the various regions of the Western Regions, Dunhuang began to usher in its own "golden years". The treasures of the Central Plains Dynasty and the countries of the Western Regions circulated here, and the gathering of merchants made the economy and society here flourish for a while, relying on the prosperity brought by the trade routes, the Mogao Grottoes, which were listed as world cultural heritages, were built here. The various murals, clay sculptures and cultural relics inside the Mogao Grottoes are unimaginable to posterity.
In addition to the precious cultural relics left over a thousand years of history, there are also Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Scenic Area in Dunhuang, which are located in the northwest, and these two beautiful scenery of the natural world and the unique local cultural sites are combined to form this historical "Pearl of the Silk Road" and the "ace city" of Gansu tourism today.
Have you ever been to Dunhuang to see the local beauty? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
