Today, let's talk about two famous anti-Japanese generals, Major General Lu Jingrong and Lieutenant General Wang Yujiu; before the Battle of Songhu, Lu Jingrong and Wang Yujiu served together in the 98th Division of the Elite Division of the Kuomintang. Unexpectedly, Lu Jingrong was killed at the Battle of Songhu; two years later, Wang Yujiu was martyred at the Battle of Nanchang.
Now let's look at the two children who were designated as "doll parents".
Lu Yuepu (80 years old), son of Lu Jingrong, chief of staff of the 98th Division of the Elite Kuomintang Division. Worked in the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province.
Wang Wenli (80 years old), daughter of Major General Wang Yujiu of the 98th Division of the Elite Kuomintang Division. He was a senior editor at Shanghai Television Station.
Lu Yuepu said goodbye to Wang Wenli more than 70 years later. At this time, Lu Yuepu looked at each other, and both of them were already white-haired.
If it were not for the mother's note behind the photo, I am afraid that neither of them would know that the pair of children sitting arm-in-arm, childish,and sitting on the stone steps in the photo were themselves. This old photo is a precious group photo left by Lu and Wang more than 70 years ago.
Lu Yuepu recalled that because of the group photo with Wang Wenli holding hands, he was often amused by his sister as a child.
It turned out that in 1935, Lu Yuepu was born; in the same year, Wang Wenli was born. The two fathers, who were already good, couldn't help but be happy, met to marry their children, and advocated the exchange of two children to raise them, which was finally abandoned, but the friendship between the two families can be seen from this.
On September 10, 1937, Lu Jingrong, who had been promoted to chief of staff of major generals, led the 583rd Regiment and was unfortunately shot and killed when he heroically killed the enemy in Yuepu Town.
When the news reached Wuhan, Wang Yujiu was devastated. On September 28, 1937, Wang wrote in his diary: "I will not die in this life, and I will do my best to help his children become adults."
In November of that year, Wang Yujiu also went to the front line of the Battle of Songhu. In 1939, Wang Yujiu died heroically when he participated in the Battle of Nanchang and led the breakthrough of the troops, at the age of 37, and the Nationalist government was posthumously promoted to lieutenant general of the army.
At this point, the two generals begged for benevolence and martyrdom. Behind these two famous anti-Japanese generals, the two mothers and their children were displaced and separated from each other.
Like almost all the beauty of that era, the "family covenant" of these two iron-blooded generals was also shattered by the chaos, and finally only this old photo was left.
Seeing each other again more than 70 years later, Lu Yuepu and Wang Wenli both have families and children. Referring to the "doll kiss" of that year, the two old men laughed and sighed more about the vicissitudes of the years.
