The fourth episode of "Telling the History of Fuzhou"

Hello everyone, I'm a shock. Today, the fourth episode of Fuzhou's history: from the fall of the Minyue state to the establishment of the Minguo state by Wang Zhenzhi, it took 1,000 years for Fuzhou to embark on the road of rejuvenation.

After Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty sent troops to destroy the Minyue State in 110 BC, it took Fuzhou 1,000 years to gradually recover. In the first 300 years, the Fuzhou area was sparsely populated and there were few historical records. After 300 years, due to frequent wars in the inland and central plains, a large number of nobles, with their families, soldiers and servants, migrated to the Fuzhou area in batches to escape the war. Fuzhou's population gradually increased, and Fuzhou began to restore the prosperity of the city. It was not until Wang Zhenzhi established the State of Fujian that it marked the end of Fuzhou's 1,000-year recovery period, and Fuzhou entered a new round of prosperity and development.

In this fourth episode, I will focus on the history of Fuzhou's 1,000-year recovery period and try my best to clear up this complex history. My point of view may not be right, but I do my best and hope to get everyone's understanding and support. Please read this article carefully, and those who oppose and support it can boldly say it in the comment area. Truth is confirmed in debate.

I. The history of 300 years after the fall of the Minyue Kingdom.

In 110 BC, the Minyue state fell. Fuzhou at this time was called Yecheng. At that time, in the land of Yecheng, there may only be a small military port, only a very small number of Han border guards, and a small number of port workers, and occasionally a very small number of Minyue people hiding in the deep mountains and dense forests and water. Yecheng was desolate.

By 85 BC, the Minyue who had fled to the mountains and forests had returned and began to merge with the descendants of the border guards stationed in the Yecheng area of Fuzhou, and residential villages also appeared. At this time, the central government of the Han Dynasty established Ye County, which was administered in present-day Gulou District, Fuzhou, under the jurisdiction of Huiji County.

By 196 CE, Sun Ce defeated Wang Lang (王朗) the Prince of Huiji (会稽太守王朗) and Shang Sheng (商升), the governor-in-waiting of Fuzhou, and Fuzhou was incorporated into the Eastern Wu forces of Fan Guo. During the Three Kingdoms period, Fuzhou became one of the shipbuilding centers of Eastern Wu.

2. The history of the Minyue Kingdom 300 years after its demise. The Han people migrated in four waves, fuzhou was built twice, a cultural turning point, and a slaughter of the city.

1. The first large-scale construction in Fuzhou.

In 282 AD, the Western Jin Dynasty established Jin'an Commandery (晋安郡), which was administered in Yuanfeng County, which is today's Fuzhou. The first Taishou Yangao of Jin'an County built the fuzhou sub-city, excavated the east and west lakes of Fuzhou and the canal, which is today's Jin'an River, and the urban pattern of Fuzhou began to take initial shape. Fuzhou Sub-City is located in the south of Ping Shan, 232 steps wide, with 5 gates and a moat on the periphery.

2. The first wave of Han Chinese entered Fujian.

In 308 AD, the Wuhu Chaohua Incident occurred in the Central Plains, and a large number of Han Chinese immigrated to Fuzhou for the first time. This is the famous "eight surnames into Fujian" in history.

3. The second wave of Han Chinese entered Fujian.

In the middle of the 6th century, during the Rebellion of Hou Jing of the Liang Dynasty of the Southern Dynasty, a wave of Han Chinese entered the Min Dynasty.

At the end of Liang, Chen Bao should be granted the position of Jin'an Taishou. During the Chen Dynasty, Chen Baoying rebelled, and in 563, the Chen Dynasty eliminated Chen Baoying, the sheriff of Jin'an Commandery and the Assassin of Minzhou, and took control of Central Fujian, and the local division of Fuzhou was terminated.

4. The third wave of Han Chinese entered Fujian.

During the Six Dynasties period, Fuzhou was initially developed, and a large number of Han Chinese immigrated to Fuzhou. Cities gradually developed, and handicrafts gradually flourished.

5. The name of Fuzhou is used.

During the Sui and Tang dynasties, the political and economic center of Fujian shifted from northern Fujian to the Fuzhou area. In 725, the thirteenth year of The Tang Dynasty, Minzhou was renamed Fuzhou, and the name of Fuzhou began.

6. Fuzhou's cultural transformation and development.

During the Tang Dynasty, Fuzhou's economy and culture began to undergo a turning point in the initial development. Local officials began to devote themselves to propaganda and education, and important figures such as Li Qi and Chang Gun appeared. Chang Gun is revered as the "Sage of Xingmin Literature". The imperial examination also flourished, and Chen Tongfang, the first jinshi of Fuzhou, was raised in mid-794 AD.

7. The fourth wave of Han Chinese entered Fujian.

During the middle and late Tang Dynasties, the turmoil in the Central Plains intensified, and a large number of Han Chinese entered Fujian, and the population of Fuzhou increased greatly.

8. Huangchao Fuzhou Massacre City.

However, in 879, Huang Chao's army invaded the city of Fuzhou and carried out a large-scale slaughter of the city. After that, Fujian Observation enabled Zheng Yi and Chen Yan to expand the sub-city and restore social order in Fuzhou.

9. Wang Zhenzhi established the State of Fujian, and Fuzhou was built for the second time.

In 893, Wang Chao and Wang Xianzhi's peasant army occupied Fuzhou, unified Fujian, and created the Wang Min regime. In 898, after Wang Chao's death, Wang Zhenzhi was crowned king of Langya by the Tang Dynasty.

From 901 onwards, Wang Zhizhi built the city of Fuzhou on a large scale. For 40 miles of Zhuluo City, the sub-city and the old city, Wushan, Yushan and Pingshan were enclosed into the city, and the north and south moon cities were also added, and the pattern of three squares and seven lanes was formed. In 909, Wang Zhenzhi was enfeoffed as the King of Min by Later Liang, and the State of Min was formally established, and Fuzhou became the capital of the State of Min. Since then, Fuzhou has generally embarked on the road of prosperity and rejuvenation.

During this 1,000-year recovery process. Fujian has split into many countries. Because they do not belong to the scope of Fuzhou, their ups and downs are not within the scope of this article.

From the demise of the Minyue State to the establishment of the Min State by Wang Zhenzhi, it took 1,000 years for Fuzhou to embark on the road of rejuvenation

In short, from the fall of the Minyue state to the founding of the Min state by Wang Zhenzhi, it took about 1,000 years for Fuzhou to come out of desolation. Since then, no matter how the dynasties have changed and how the local government in Fuzhou has changed, Fuzhou has been developing and prospering continuously. It can be said that after Wang Zhenzhi founded the State of Min, Fuzhou entered a new period of historical development, and Wang Aunt Zhi was also revered as the first person in Kaiwei. The fifth episode of Fuzhou history will be released soon. Thank you!
