The United States again urged Germany to "freeze" the "Nord Stream-2" project

Beijing, December 6 (Xinhua) -- Robin Quinville, chargé d'affaires alike of the US Embassy in Germany, urged Germany and other European countries to suspend the construction of the Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline project on the 5th to send a "clear signal" to Russia.

In an interview with The German newspaper Les Champiers, Quinnville said that "now is the time to demand a freeze on pipeline construction" and that "this will send a clear signal that Europe will not accept" Russia's behavior.

Nord Stream-2 plans to lay a gas pipeline from Russia to Germany and a number of other European countries via the Baltic Seabed. When the project is completed, Russian gas will be transported to Germany through Ukraine and then to other European countries.

The Nord Stream-2 project is nearing completion, but the European contractor suspended construction of the project at the end of last year due to the obstruction of the United States with sanctions and other measures. However, the construction of this project has recently been authorized by the German government to resume construction this weekend.

The Russian side has repeatedly said that the UNITED States blocked the Nord Stream-2 project in order to export more U.S. natural gas to Europe.
