Folk Tales: Today we tell the story of JiGong robbing the bride, why did the monk rob the bride?

A long time ago, there was a monk named Ji Yi in the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. This Ji Yi monk was different from other monks, he did not knock on wooden fish, did not chant, drank wine and ate meat, held a broken fan in his hand, and wandered around all day, crazy and crazy, and did not abide by the rules of Buddhism. Therefore, everyone called him a mad monk.

One morning, the monk woke up confused, only to see the sun through the window and the sun on his back, and it was not too early. He stretched out, got out of bed and dressed, picked up the broken fan, pulled a pair of shoes, and walked out slowly.

He had just stepped out of the mountain gate and looked up, only to see a dark cloud floating in the sky far away, flying straight to the Lingyin Temple. When he took a closer look, no, where is the dark cloud, it is a small mountain! It is estimated that this mountain will fall on the village in front of the Lingyin Temple at three o'clock in the afternoon.

At this point, the monk was anxious, turned around and ran toward the main hall, shouting as he ran: "Not good, not good!" The mountain is coming! ”

When the monks heard this, they all laughed and said, "This crazy monk is drunk and crazy again, who has ever seen a flying mountain?"

The monk Ji Yi ran all over the Lingyin Temple, shouting incessantly, so that his throat smoked, and no one in the temple believed his words. He hurried out of the Lingyin Temple and ran to the village in front of him.

The first one he met was an old man, and he said, "At three o'clock in the afternoon today, there is a mountain that is going to fly up to this village, and tell everyone to move quickly, but it will be too late!"

Unexpectedly, the old man shook his head when he heard it: "Crazy monk, you have come to find happiness again." Who has ever seen a flying mountain! ”

The second person I met was an old woman, and the monk Ji Yi said, "There is a mountain that is going to fly up to the village at three o'clock in the afternoon today, and tell everyone to move away quickly.

Unexpectedly, the old woman didn't believe it when she heard it, and shook her head vigorously: "Master, where do you tell us to move?" If a mountain really fell and was crushed to death, he would have to admit his fate! ”

The third person he met was a young man, and the monk told him to move.

The young man listened, hummed his nose and said, "Don't scare people, the mountain is pressed down to be afraid of something, I will carry it on my shoulders!"

The monk Ji Yi went in and out of the house, constantly persuading and urging people to move. He ran from the east of the village to the west of the village and ran all over the village breathlessly. His heart was furious, his mouth was dry, but no one was willing to listen to his advice, and no one was ready to move. A group of children were still following him, learning his appearance, giggling and making noise.

The monk ji yi was really tired, so he sat down under a big tree at the entrance of the village. He was so anxious that the beads of sweat rolled on his head, and he desperately shook the broken fan and did not use it. He simply leaned against the tree and closed his eyes to recuperate. When everyone saw it, they all laughed: "This crazy monk, asked others to move, but he himself fell asleep!"

In fact, the monk Ji Yi was not asleep at all, he was trying to find a way. The sun is rising higher and higher, and it is imminent to see the catastrophe coming, but no one will believe his words.

At this moment, there was a whining, whining sound. The monk Ji Yi hurriedly ran to the sound, and it turned out that a family was marrying relatives to do a happy event. The bride, with a red hijab on her head, playing with ribbons on her shoulders, was prostrating her head and worshiping heaven and earth! The house was crowded with people, bustling and jubilant.

The monk ji yi suddenly had an idea, and he quickly ran into the courtyard of the family who was doing the wedding, picked up the bride, carried it on his shoulder, turned around, rushed out of the gate, and ran quickly outside the village.

"Crazy monk robbing the bride! The mad monk robbed the bride! ”

That's it! All of a sudden, the whole village was a sensation. Whether it was a relative or not, whether it was a friend or not, everyone rushed out of the village together, chasing after him and shouting: "Catch the crazy monk, don't let him run away!" ”

The monk Ji Yi carried the bride forward vigorously, and a large group of people behind him desperately chased forward. The monk turned his head to take a look, good fellow! Those who take door bolts, those who carry flat burdens, those who carry sticks, those who lift hoes, those who wield iron rakes, those who help shout, those who watch the liveliness, those who are old and young, and the crowds of people have all chased out of the village.

The monk was happy in his heart and his spirit multiplied. Only to see the wind at the bottom of his feet, he ran out for a mile or two in one breath, and the people in the village also chased after him in one breath.

Suddenly, the monk stopped and didn't run. He put down the bride and sat down on the ground himself, shaking the broken fan, and the fan cooled down.

Everyone chased after him and was about to go up to grab him, but unexpectedly, the sky was dark, the wind whistled, only to see a loud rumble, all the people were shocked and fell to the ground, dizzy, unable to distinguish between the southeast, the northwest, and the northwest.

At this time, the monk Ji Yi was shaking the broken fan and laughing.

The village was crushed under the mountain, the people were homeless, no one could change this fact, and the people were glad that they had survived, so they thanked the monks together and prepared to go back and rebuild their homes.

At this time, the monk Ji Yi said, let's not go first, this mountain can fly from elsewhere, maybe it will fly to other places and then harm people, we want to make him come, we can't go. Now everyone will follow me to the mountain to chisel five hundred stone arhats and calm this mountain. Don't let him hurt people again, you see it well.

Everyone listened to it and thought, yes, we can't let him harm people anymore, so they said in unison, but the home is gone, where are the tools to chisel the stone Arhat?

The monk Ji Yi said, it doesn't matter, I'll find a way. Only to see him take off his robe, he shook it so gently, and a lot of hammers fell out of it, and a lot of hammers fell out, and a lot of chisels fell out of it for sixteen times. Shake out a whole bunch of hammers, chisels.

Everyone took their tools and climbed up the hill that had just flown in, and the sound of "clanging and clanging" was made all over the mountain. Everyone worked together, and it only took one day and one night to chisel all five hundred arhats, and the mountain was full of stone niches and Buddha statues.

When the monk Ji Yi went to the mountain, there were five hundred stone arhats, each with only a body and no eyes and eyebrows, so he stretched out his hand and used his long fingernails. On the face of Shi Luohan, two clicks are two eyebrows, and then two eyes are smeared with fingers, and in less than half a day, five hundred shi luohans all have eyebrows, and they are vivid!

Since then, this mountain can no longer fly away, and remains forever opposite the Lingyin Temple, and people have given it a name, called "Fei lai Feng".

As for the monk Najima? After hearing that he had put an eyebrow on Shi Luohan, he returned to the Lingyin Temple, touched Maitreya Bodhisattva's stomach three times, shook the broken fan, smiled and squinted, and rode away in the fog, and no one ever saw him again. Later, the five hundred ten arhats who flew to the peak continued to greet the guests who came to watch, and the guests were all amazed, and the craftsmen who created the stone arhats were exquisitely skilled, and they were all touched by the virtue of the Jiyi monks who rescued the people.
