From October 25 to November 1, 1987, the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing. Deng Xiaoping presided over the opening ceremony of the congress, which deliberated and adopted the report "Advancing along the Road of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" and the "Amendment to Some Articles of the Constitution of the Communist Party of China," and approved the work reports of the Central Advisory Committee and the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
