The Xiongnu, once the overlord of the steppe and the descendant of Dayu, this is very clear in the "Records of History": "The Xiongnu, whose ancestors, the Miao descendants of the Xia Hou clan, are also known as Chunwei. Among them, "Xia Hou Clan" is another name for the Xia Dynasty, and "Miao" means descendant.
Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Xiongnu and the Central Plains have been in constant war, and famous generals such as Wei Qing, Huo Fuyi, and Li Guang have emerged.
Later, the Xiongnu split into two parts, the Southern Xiongnu gradually integrated into the Han people, and the main force of the Northern Xiongnu magically disappeared, becoming a mystery for eternity. The Book of the Later Han Dynasty and the Biography of the Southern Xiongnu says that "Northern Danyu died in exile and did not know where it was." ”
Where did the Huns go? Later scholars believe that some of them went to Hungary and became their ancestors; some of them hid in Anhui.
Nanxi Ancient Village, located in the deep mountain valley of Huayuan Township, Dongzhi County, Anhui Province, has more than 1,500 households, and the village was selected as the first batch of traditional villages in China.
Nanxi Ancient Village is also called Jinjia Village, because more than 80% of the people in the village are surnamed Jin. There is a strange rule in the village that has lasted for thousands of years: there can be no intermarriage between the same surname.
Due to its location deep in the mountains, Nanxi Ancient Village was once little known until it was discovered after expert examination in 2006, thus ending the relatively closed isolation.
The villagers in the village said that the ancestral legend was that they were descendants of the northern steppe tribes.
In the genealogy of a family surnamed Jin, there is a new discovery: their ancestor is called Jin Riluan, a prince of a xiongnu tribe. During the conquest with Emperor Wu of Han, he was captured by Huo And surrendered to the Han and was given the surname of Jin.
In the Tang Dynasty, the Jin clan came to Anhui as an official, and in the last year of the Tang Dynasty, the ancestor of the Jin clan, Jin Qiaogong, came to this place to avoid war and chaos, and it has been more than 1200 years.
So, are the Nanxi Guzhai people descendants of the Xiongnu?
In 2013, experts from Fudan University came here to sample DNA from villagers for testing.
Although we have not seen the final authoritative test results published. But since then, the 12th episode of the 12-episode large-scale documentary "The Great Wall: The Story of China" has dedicated itself to the story of the descendants of the Xiongnu and the blood lineage of the Jin family in Nanxi Guzhai.
These stories confirm the results of DNA from one side.
Today, Nanxi Ancient Village has become one of the tourist attractions in Anhui, and the Jin Ancestral Hall in the village has also become a place for tour guides to tell the story of the Xiongnu.
Here, you will see the patterns of riding horses to fight wars" on ancient buildings, "riding and shooting", "sheep and phoenix with pictures", and understand the customs of nanxi ancient villages in that year, such as the "conventions" of brothers and sisters-in-law, the folk customs of advocating force, and so on.
And Guzhai, also changed its concept, willing to use its own legend to win the development of tourism economy.
