Wang Qiao: The 1 km road has been swept for 36 years without complaint or regret

Wang Qiao, who works in winter

From the intersection of Jelimu Road and Hailar Avenue to the intersection of Jelimu Road and Aimin Street, this section of more than one kilometer of road, sanitation worker Wang Qiao swept from the age of 30 to the age of 66. For 36 years, more than 13,000 days and nights, she has always stuck to this road. In the west gate section of the Public Security Department, Wang Qiao, dressed in orange work clothes, bent down from time to time along the sides of the road to pick up cigarette butts, paper scraps and debris. While she was resting, the reporter interviewed this worker who was quietly dedicated to the frontline of sanitation.

"In more than 30 years, I have only returned to my hometown 3 times, because my parents died, my nephew got married, and I let someone else replace me for a few days. In fact, I really want to live in my hometown for a few more days, but I know that environmental sanitation must be cleaned every day, and this position is inseparable from people. I hid the bitterness and bitterness in my heart, and when I started working, I forgot everything, no matter how big the matter was, it was over. Wang Qiao said.

"I'm not the only sanitation worker in our family, my mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, and our mother-in-law and daughter-in-law have been sweeping the road for three generations." In 1979, Wang Qiao and her husband and daughter came to Hohhot from their hometown in Henan. In 1981, their son was born. At that time, the mother-in-law who cleaned the road every day could not take care of showing her the child, she only had to bring it herself. In 1982, the director of the Hailar Road Neighborhood Committee helped her find a sanitation job, and from that year on, she picked up a broom and walked on the road. Day after day, year after year, cold and summer, she witnessed the city's changes. Today, her daughter-in-law in her 30s has also picked up a broom under her influence and joined the sanitation army, and the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law sweep a street together, both colleagues and comrades-in-arms. "I'm tired, she's going to do more; she's tired, I'm going to do more." In any case, first of all, we must do a good job. Wang Qiao said.

"When I first started working, my salary was 30 yuan a month, and now it's 2,000 yuan. I told my daughter-in-law that we have no capital to do business, and sometimes we are still in arrears when we go out to work, and although it is hard to be a sanitation worker, the wages are guaranteed.

"I have long regarded this road as my home, swept clean, and comfortable to look at for myself." If something is not clean, it is like not washing your face, how to do it is awkward, it is uncomfortable. I have been working on this road for decades, and I have long been familiar with the road.

"Jelim Road is being renovated, and over the past 30 years, the road, including this renovation, has been overhauled a total of 5 times. The cleaning of this road was originally under the management of the neighborhood committee, and in 1991 it was returned to the Sanitation Bureau. I didn't know how to ride a bicycle, I had to walk on two legs, and in 2002, I learned to ride at the age of 50, and now I ride an electric car to and from work.

"The merchants and residents of this street know me, many people I watched grow up, and many people watched me grow old." The old director of the neighborhood committee who introduced me to the work is now more than 90 years old, and every time I meet, I have to greet the old director and say a few words. I was introduced to this job by the old director, and I thank people. Wang Qiao said.

Wang Qiao, who has a grateful heart, has always been grateful to the society and to everyone who cares about and understands her. "My leadership has always been very good to me, and in the past few years, he has organized our sanitation workers to go to parties, eat together, sing songs, and let everyone relax and relax. This year, some elementary school students greeted us with apples and drinks, and a restaurant offered us breakfast for free. During the New Year's Festival, the unit gave us rice flour oil. These make us feel the warmth of society and the warmth of our hearts. ”

Wang Qiao has been repeating the same life for decades. Get up at 3 a.m. in the summer and 4 a.m. in the winter, and start working when you get on the road. Cold and heat, rain or shine. "I long to have a few days off, even if it's 3 days, so I can get a good night's sleep and go out for a walk."

"I'm 66 and I plan to put down my broom and go home when I'm 70. Now I can still earn a little, I can still support myself without illness or disaster, and if I don't work, I won't have an income. I don't have land, I don't have a minimum guarantee, how should I live in the future? "After working all her life, what worries Wang Qiao most is that she will not have an income in the future, and she does not want to increase the burden on her children." My biggest wish is that I will be able to have a pension like a retired worker in the future, even if it is very small, I am satisfied. Wang Qiao said.

"2017 was my happiest year! Because I have a house to live in, I don't have to rent anymore. At the end of 2017, the Municipal Sanitation Bureau allocated public rental housing to 661 sanitation workers, including Wang Qiao, who have worked in the front line of sanitation for many years, "In a few days, I will move to public rental housing, welcome you to have time to see." When parting, Wang Qiao issued an invitation to reporters. (Hohhot Evening News reporter Liu Lixia)
